Contestants Bio/Blogs - Bachelor Canada - Discussion

Post by Love_Me on Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:58 pm

Now, I’m officially nervous…

It’s Night One. I’m standing in the middle of the glistening driveway. Dead silence. I can hear my heart beating through my chest! Now, I’m officially nervous…

To say that the introductions were some of the most nervous moments of my life would be an understatement. I was in Stage 3 of a heart attack! I kept expecting the girls to turn back for the airport once they saw me!

Once I got through the limo exits, I figured the hard part was over. Not a chance! I walked in to the mansion, looked directly at the girls, and felt as if they were all waiting for this moment of Aristotle-esque profoundness, but “hey girls” were the first words that came out of my mouth! This was honestly one of the most daunting tasks of my life. It sounds like every guy’s dream to walk into a house with 25 girls, and it is. But it’s overwhelming, too.

Finally, I made my way to the couch to relax with some gorgeous women but then cue host Tyler Harcott, “Brad, we have another bachelorette.” As if the ladies gun stares at me weren’t already cocked, this did not help!

While I was thinking they were about to bring my ex-girlfriend out (thankfully there was a pond near where I was standing in case I decided to lose my dinner), the door opened to…Jillian Harris. Phew!

Ultimately, after chatting with me and the girls, Jill gave me better insight into who should receive the first impression rose. It was easy to give it to Whitney. Usually someone’s intensity would throw me off right away, but she seemed to be so calm about it. And after seeing the full episode, I applaud her even more for her composure.

Lastly, one thing totally unique to The Bachelor that can never be duplicated – The Rose Ceremony. To stand in front of that many women and know I was deciding their fate on the show was really hard. In that moment I wished it was called The Bachelorettes so they could choose me instead; but in order for me to find that one person to start my life with, I knew I had to make tough decisions along the way.

Getting through that night was an amazing and chaotic experience. Writing and reliving it, even more so. But I’m so happy that everyone got to come along on the journey with me.

Until Episode2, let the dating begin!

To be honest, I never thought I would be the first Canadian bachelor.

“Hi Brad! Yes, this is Heather calling. I’m the casting director for The Bachelor Canada!”

“Haha, good one! Who is this really?” I asked.

“No, really, I’m calling from The Bachelor Canada. I’d like to talk to you to see if you’re interested in possibly being Canada’s first bachelor?”

As if that’s not a surreal enough conversation, Heather went on to ask me a multitude of questions ranging from: “Are you ready to settle down and find love?” to the ultimate question, “boxers or briefs?”

To be honest, I never thought I would be the first Canadian bachelor. During the interview process, I had a good feeling and the casting and production team seemed to really like me, but I was afraid I was being too honest. I sat there in a chair in front of the network executives and I said, “I want to go on and find the one girl in the house that’s for me and I want to start a life with her.” I got out of the chair left the room and thought, “S***! They’re never going to pick me!”

But they did. And with one phone call I became the luckiest guy in Canada! Within days, I was swept up doing photo shoots and interviews, and being flown to Victoria, B.C. where I was told I had two days until the first cocktail party! Needless to say I didn’t sleep. I had two days of television left so I pumped out as much Adam Sandler old school classics as could!

People came in and out, cameras, lights, sound men, producers, and directors – all prepping me for what was about to happen. Everyone was so excited and so was I! At that point, I wasn’t nervous at all.

Fast forward to Night 1. I’m standing in the middle of the glistening driveway. Dead silence. I can hear my heart beating through my chest! Now, I’m officially nervous…

The beginning of it all

Whitney

It all started the day before my birthday, the beginning of it all, the day I auditioned for The Bachelor Canada. The audition itself wasn’t as nerve racking as I thought it would be.

I’m a very intuitive person. I was 99 per cent positive I would receive a call. Sure enough, I received the call and I was ready to fully commit to the show.

I shopped everyday up until the night before I left. My flight itinerary was sent to me and that’s when I knew it was finally real.

The hardest part of getting on that plane was leaving Camille (my twin sister) and my mom. Once I touched down in Victoria, I knew all the hard work and preparation for it was about to pay off. I was that much closer to meeting the man I had just spent the last two months preparing to meet.

Bianka

Age:

28

Occupation:

Nurse

Hometown:

Mississauga, ON

What is your guilty pleasure?

Shopping, for sure. I will work 16-hour days if there is something I really want. I have an obsession with Louboutins.

What physical qualities would your ideal mate have?

Tall, dark features, fit, with good hygiene and nice hands. LOL, I always look at hands! I like nice, manly hands. Oh, and a good dresser!

Tattoo Count:

Two. The first is on my left hip and says, “Love.” The second is on the right side of my torso and says, “One Life, Carpe Diem.”

What would be your epitaph?

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don’t. Believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance – take it. If it changes your life – let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they promised it would be worth it.

Why not give it a shot?

I remembered back in February I first heard of The Bachelor making its way to Canada. I thought to myself “why not give it a shot?”, though I was really thinking I would probably never get on because there were thousands of other females applying. Thankfully, I was wrong!

After making a short video, I got a call from the producers asking me to meet them in person at the casting tour in Toronto. A few short weeks later, I got the call – and it took a few days for the good news to kick in.

Being the fashionista I am, shopping was number one on my list. I booked a quick little getaway and did a little shopping in Vegas for a new wardrobe.

The time just flew by. I worked like crazy to compensate for the time I would need off for the show, and any little time I had off I spent with my family and friends. April rolled around so fast, and I started to get nervous.

But what did I have to lose? I was excited for a new beginning. I didn’t know what to expect but, I did know one thing – I was ready to find love.

Nope. She could easily pass for 30. I do not like her at all so far. But Brad sure does. I imagine many guys agree.
