FAN FAVORITE CHRIS SOULES SEARCHES FOR LOVE AGAIN ON ABC'S HIT ROMANCE REALITY SERIES "THE BACHELOR"
FAN FAVORITE CHRIS SOULES SEARCHES

FOR LOVE AGAIN ON ABC’S HIT ROMANCE REALITY SERIES,

“THE BACHELOR,” WHEN IT RETURNS TO ABC IN JANUARY 2015

The Handsome Farmer Has Been Besieged by Women Clamoring to Move to Iowa for Love

Millions of single women had mixed emotions when Chris Soules, the stylish farmer from Iowa, was sent home by Andi Dorfman on “The Bachelorette.” One of the final three men, Chris was dismissed after he had emotionally confessed his love to Andi, but that meant the handsome bachelor was back on the market. Now, he is ready to put his heartache behind him to search for the one missing piece in his life – true love – when he stars in the 19th edition of ABC’s hit romance reality series, “The Bachelor,” which returns to ABC in January 2015. The announcement was made this morning on “Good Morning America.”

The 32-year-old Midwestern bachelor and self-proclaimed romantic has been engaged once before. Heartbroken, Chris ended that seven-year relationship just months before he expected to walk down the aisle. Although his relationship with his fiancée was good, he didn’t want to settle for “good.” He wanted “great.” While the humble but enormously successful farmer from tiny Arlington, Iowa (pop. 427) has found it difficult to date, that hasn’t stopped him from having faith that one day he will find the perfect woman for him. His experience on “The Bachelorette” made him realize that love really is out there, and he is confident that he will find it this time on “The Bachelor.”

Since his stint on “The Bachelorette,” Chris can’t go anywhere without being swarmed by women vying for his attention, all super fans of the man with a subtle charm and a signature twinkle in his eye. One adoring admirer drove hundreds of miles to knock on his door, while yet another professed her love for him by placing an ad in his local paper.

A family man through and through, Chris counts his father, who is a farmer, too, as his role model. His all-American mom immediately made Andi feel like a part of their family on Chris’ hometown date. And Chris’ three older sisters originally submitted him for the show. When Chris starts his own family, he is hoping for a big one like his own: four to six children.

Chris, who actually could drive a tractor before he could drive a car, grew up on a farm in nearby Lamont, Iowa, and attended Iowa State University, where he studied agronomy and agriculture. He brought his skills back to the family farm where he expanded the business and helped make it the multi-million dollar enterprise it is today.

This 6’1”, blue-eyed bachelor loves football, camping and country music. He epitomizes what women look for in a man: successful, sensitive and sexy. He has almost everything he needs -- except his dream woman, who will be smart, motivated and confident. Oh, and she will need to know or learn how to drive a tractor!

Hosted by Chris Harrison, “The Bachelor” is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Alycia Rossiter are the executive producers.

Chris Harrison Explains Why Chris Soules Was Chosen as the Star of The Bachelor

Robyn Ross
Aug 27, 2014 01:05 PM ET
by Robyn Ross

It's no secret that The Bachelorette's Chris Soules was a front-runner to star on The Bachelor. He's hot, successful, and left his season brokenhearted — all the makings for the perfect lead. But with another fan favorite — Arie from Emily Maynard's season — also in talks for the gig, host Chris Harrison says the decision came down to the wire.

So what gave the Iowa farmer the edge? "At the end of the day, Chris is everything the show is based on," Harrison tells TVGuide.com. "He's that diamond in the rough from middle America who, more than ever, needs the show to find his wife. It reminds me of Aaron Buerge in Missouri. He needed the show to expand his horizons. So, it takes us back to where the show began."

Although rumors have been swirling for weeks, especially after the "Men Tell All" special,  Harrison swears that nothing was official until this week. "There were rumors that it was confirmed, but the truth is until this week, everybody was wrong," he says. "It's not like we waited this long to hold on to this little nugget. We confirmed it [on Good Morning America] two days after we could. But, of course, he's been the front-runner. That wasn't hard to figure out."

While there are lots of Chris supporters, there are also those wondering if Soules is dynamic enough to lead the show. But Harrison says not to worry. "When you're one of 25, you get a very small glimpse," he says. "Sean Lowe is the best example. He was not that popular on Emily's season. He wasn't the hero that he was when he was The Bachelor. But we knew Sean was a star and that he had a great sense of humor and was smart. It's the same thing with Chris. He's very smart, articulate and he's professional. Like Andi, he'll approach 'the job' the same way.

"I don't know if we would've had that same attitude with anybody else at the top of our list," Harrison continues. "He's also sincere and I know he's looking for love. If there was ever guy we'd say will walk away with someone, it's Chris. So, for those who are worried, you just haven't seen what you'll see during the show."

Chris Soules, whom you are officially allowed to refer to as "Prince Farming," didn't win Andi Dorfman's heart on The Bachelorette. As you can see from the clip above, Chris handled the breakup about as well as anyone could, and was pretty damn classy about the whole thing. That definitely made an impression on women across the country, so now Chris's consolation prize as the star of Season 19 of The Bachelor (besides being the star of Season 19 of The Bachelor), is a record thirty -- yes, 30 -- ladies vying for his love when the show returns to ABC with the SEASON PREMIERE MONDAY JANUARY 5 8|7c.

Your prize is getting to watch what promises to be one of the most emotionally charged seasons of the show to date. Look forward to an episode guest-hosted by Jimmy Kimmel (he also plans their date!), a concert by country stars Big & Rich, and a romantic trip to Bali for the Overnight Dates.
The premiere kicks off as Chris Harrison hosts a first-time live premiere event with a studio audience and past fan favorites from The Bachelor and Bachelorette series. Get ready for some behind-the-scenes action and a peek at the new ladies ready to claim Chris. When the arrivals start, and 15 women show up, which is... kind of on the low side, right? That's okay, they start the evening and Chris gets to know some of the ladies.
And then 15 more arrive. Which obviously delights the first 15 bachelorettes, who are excited to make new friends! Right? Yeah, not so much.
One woman in trouble might not even make it through the first night, and another from the 22 who makes it through Arrivals Night pulls Chris aside for what will be one of the most dramatic twists in Bachelor history. Seriously.

TV Yahoo

The Bachelor': Chris Harrison Picks 5 Women to Watch this Season

Heartland hunk Chris Soules's Arlington, Iowa, hometown has a population of 427. According to Bachelor host Chris Harrison, this basically means the previous dating pool of the ABC series' 18th leading man (Though there has been 19 seasons of the show, Brad Womack was the Bachelor twice.) is better described as a dating puddle.

"I never really thought about what a population of that size meant in terms of Chris's prospects until I saw how he reacted on night one. He was like a kid in a candy store," Harrison tells Yahoo TV. "Chris was so overwhelmed and blown away by the women that it was endearing. At first, I thought he was giving me lip service and being nice, but I realized he'd never really dated women as beautiful as this."

Prince Farming's rosy reaction as the beautiful bunch of women poured out of the limos was merely a sign of how Soules's season would play out. "He is one of the easiest Bachelors we've ever had because he's a regular dude who was always so appreciative of the opportunity and is used to long hours and working hard as a farmer," explains Harrison, who felt instant kinship with the Midwesterner. "I know it sounds silly, but no one really anticipates just how mentally and emotionally taxing and unbelievably physically grueling it is to be the Bachelor. But Chris was always genuine and fun to be around, and that was contagious. His enthusiasm carried over to the women as well as the crew. He is very serious about finding someone to share his life with."

Related: Watch Chris Harrison Slap Chris Soules in the New 'Bachelor' Promo

Producers knew that Soules's farm life, in all its rural porcine glory, could be a hard sell for the ladies vying for Chris's hand, so the format was tweaked "to resemble and embrace who Chris is" and "to give the women a glimpse at what life would be like with him."

"Ninety percent of the women who come on are fans and were really excited it was him. But saying you'd move to Arlington, Iowa to be a farmer's wife is one thing; actually doing it is another," Harrison admits. "The further the women go and as the season moves along, that becomes more of an issue because pulling that trigger is no small decision for most of the women."

Gone, then, is the usual Bachelor globetrotting, at least until it was time for exotic dates, and a good portion of the show will take place in the Hawkeye State. "We kept it domestic for the most part, and we don't even necessarily hit the glamour spots like New York. Think Des Moines and Dubuque."

While there's bound to be at least one helicopter ride (what would a Bachelor season be without them?), many of the dates will be more outdoorsy, active, and simple. "He is a rough and tumble, flannel shirt-wearing working-class man, so the dates resemble that. There's camping and rafting, and some of these girls aren't quite equipped for his lifestyle. But it was important for him to see who didn't take to it so he could make better decisions about who to send home," says Harrison, who wouldn't confirm whether the gals will be asked to pitch(fork) in on Soules's farm. He adds, "Not that life would be all shucking corn if you ended up with Chris. It isn't like he doesn't have a ton of money. He wants to travel. He wants a spunky girl who will bring out the lighter side in him. He wants to have nice things and spoil his lady. It isn't like you are gonna move to the farm and never be heard from again."

The 5 picks are in this article as well.

What do a dedicated school guidance counselor, a raven-haired beauty with a rebellious past, a self-proclaimed virgin with a healthy libido, a stunning petite beauty who is searching for her soul mate and a spunky Southern belle, who is a fertility specialist yearning to fall in love and have her own children, all have in common? They all have their sights set on moving to Arlington, Iowa, with the Bachelor, Chris Soules, when the 19th edition of ABC’s popular romance reality series, “The Bachelor,” premieres with a live event for the first time ever, MONDAY, JANUARY 5 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Chris Soules, 33, a handsome, successful farmer from Arlington, Iowa, meets 30 potential soul mates as he begins his exciting search for true love. In the premiere, “Episode 1901,” Chris prepares for the night of his life as the 30 beautiful bachelorettes, all clamoring to meet him, begin to arrive. Britt rocks Chris’ world with a memorable bear hug. Not to be outdone, Tara arrives wearing “Daisy Dukes” and cowboy boots. Amanda blindfolds the object of her affection and slips into the party before Chris can see her. Reegan, the cadaver tissue saleswoman, brings the Bachelor a heartfelt surprise in a medical cooler. And six-foot blonde stunner, Tandra, roars up on a motorcycle in a gorgeous evening gown and biker boots.

After only 15 bachelorettes arrive, the party surprisingly starts, and the “hugger” Britt makes the most of her opportunity as she and Chris have undeniable chemistry and get close very quickly. Whitney, the vivacious fertility nurse, coyly explains to the Bachelor that she makes babies for a living. After Chris Harrison brings out the first impression rose, the fun really starts as another 15 bachelorettes are about to join the party. Mackenzie, a young mom invites Chris to share an activity that is close to his heart, and Kaitlyn teaches our Bachelor how to breakdance. However, Ashley S. feels the pressure and her nerves get the better of her. Chris makes his first decision of the night, offering the first impression rose to a very surprised woman. Finally, after his first rose ceremony, 22 women will remain to compete for Chris’ affection and, in the end, his heart. But one woman has something else on her mind and takes matters into her own hands, turning Chris’ perfect world upside down. What should have been the start of his romantic journey now becomes one of the most dramatic twists in Bachelor history.

Chris Soules on Why He Won't Be Like Juan Pablo Galavis on The Bachelor

The Bachelor isn't looking to repeat the past.

Chris Soules has the tough task of following up one of the most controversial seasons ever when he begins handing out roses on The Bachelor on Jan. 5. To say Juan Pablo Galavis was one of the series' most controversial and polarizing leading men ever is a bit of an understatement, even if he started off as a fan favorite during Desiree Hartsock's season, similar to Chris' beginning on Andi Dorfman's most recent season.

But Chris is promising Bachelor Nation that he won't be following in his predecessor's (who recently split from winner Nikki Ferrell) shady footsteps.

"I think going into this I felt very humbled and pretty excited for the opportunity and grateful for the opportunity," Chris explained to reporters of how his approach to being the Bachelor will differ from Juan Pablo's. "For me, this is a big deal. To meet 30 incredible women was a big deal to me and I took a lot of pride in the process because it's very important for me to find a wife. That is probably my biggest goal at this point in my life and going into this process, I was going to make the most of every second and treat every woman with the respect that they deserve. I think that that's one thing from what I saw in how Juan Pablo handled things...maybe not with the most respect that some of the women and not as much respect for the process that it deserved. I think we were very different in regard."

As for meeting the 30 women in the premiere, the franchise's first-ever live opener, Chris admitted the night was "overwhelming," but said, "I did not really experience any drama! I feel like everything went flawlessly for me...that doesn't mean there wasn't other things going on in the house. I'm going to learn alongside [viewers] as the season gets played out!"

Other tidbits from Chris:

New Co-Host! In week three, Jimmy Kimmel will join Chris Harrison as Chris' guide through the rocky waters of the show. Chris called the episode "the best and most entertainment week for me," and teased, "There's going to be some fun dates...some fun sheningians that Jimmy pulled on us that everyone will enjoy watching, including myself!"

Did He Say "I Love You" to Anyone During Filming? "Yeah, I did." Woah!

How Many Women Did He Kiss? "[Laughs.] I didn't keep track of that. I guess my strategy through the process regarding that was be in the moment and wear my heart on my sleeve."

His Biggest Turnoff? Tip to the ladies: Chris doesn't like when "people eat with their mouths open."

Chris Soules's Bachelor Blog: Britt Gave Me the 'Best Hug of My Entire Life'

Nicholas Maggio

By Chris Soules

Chris Soules is the Bachelor! After a bittersweet exit from Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette, the farmer from Arlington, Iowa, is searching for love once again on ABC's hit franchise. Chris, 33, will be blogging for PEOPLE.com every week about the women, the dates and the difficult decisions he'll make on his journey to love. So check back each week, and follow Chris on Twitter.

First off, I'm not a writer. I'm a farmer. So if this blog doesn't exactly sound like Hemingway, there's a reason! I don't write blogs. I farm stuff. Regardless, I'm going to give this a shot. What's the worst that could happen, right?

So I flew into L.A. a few days before the women arrived, and it was great to have that time to just wrap my head around what I was about to embark upon. I also did a couple photo shoots and tried on LOTS of clothes. Cary Fetman is the guy who I'm talking to while I'm surrounded by racks and racks of expensive suits, and not only is Cary wonderful with clothes, but he's also just a wonderful man. Cary, you magician, you made this farmer look damn good!

Thankfully, I'd spent the last few weeks working out back in Iowa with my buddy, Cody Sattler. He and I became friends on The Bachelorette, and so I flew him out to help me train. I needed to look good for these women, and I've seen the show enough to know that every once in a while, the Bachelor takes his shirt off! Having Cody train me was an experience. He would wake me up every morning, jumping around my room and playing crazy music. A few minutes later, he and I would begin our first workout of the day. Within a week, I could feel and see the difference. I was ready, at least physically.

As that first night approached, the more nervous and excited I got. How could I not be, knowing that there was a chance I could be meeting my future wife?! That said, none of it felt real until that first limo pulled in. That's the moment I finally knew I was really the Bachelor. Sure, I guess knew I was the Bachelor, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking everyone at ABC (and in America!) was going to change their minds and tell this farmer from Iowa to head home and let the real Bachelor take over. But when I saw the headlights of that first limo, I knew they were stuck with me, for better or for worse.

Oh, and I have a few answers to questions I get all the time. Do they wet down the driveway? Of course; it never rains in Los Angeles! Are the flowers near the fountain real or fake? Some are real, some are fake. You really have to get close to tell the difference. Is Chris Harrison as nice in person as he seems on TV? That's easy. Yes. Chris is great.

When that first limo pulled up, I took some deep breaths and tried to settle my nerves. The hug from Britt definitely helped. And yes, it really did seem to last forever. But I can't put the hug only on Britt. The truth is that I really am a hugger. Always have been. Turns out so is Britt. Put two huggers together and what do you get? Yep, the longest televised hug in history. It really was a nice moment we shared, and I think it helped put both of us at ease.

Now I knew some of the women were going to show up doing crazy stuff to get my attention, and sometimes it worked. Tara was memorable both times I met her, with and without her Daisy Dukes! However, nothing could have prepared me for what Kaitlyn said. Wow, she really had me tongue-tied.

While some of the women were more memorable than others, all of them were drop-dead gorgeous. I couldn't believe how lucky I was to be getting to meet them all. On the other hand, I couldn't believe how unlucky I was knowing I was going to have to send some of them home at the end of the night.

After meeting 15 women, I was already feeling a little dazed. I'm not used to dating more than one woman, let alone 15. When Chris suggested I head inside, I didn't hesitate. I didn't know if more women were coming or not; I just wanted to get inside and start getting to know the women who were already there.

Talking to Whitney was definitely a highlight, as was finding Amanda, my secret admirer. But just when I thought I was getting a handle on juggling all these women, Chris let me know there were more about to arrive. And they kept coming and coming!

When it was finally time to hand out that first impression rose, my head was spinning. So many choices! Whitney had impressed me with her beauty and poise, Kaitlyn had killed it with her humor and her dance moves, and countless others like Carly, Kelsey, Tandra and Ashley I. had me thinking maybe they should get that first rose. Ultimately, I gave the first impression rose to Britt, who not only gave me the best hug of my entire life but also really made me feel comfortable on what was a pretty stressful evening.

Walking into that first rose ceremony was truly overwhelming. Thirty women were staring back at me. I tried to say a few words, but speeches aren't exactly my thing. I don't give speeches. I farm stuff!

And then it was time to hand out some roses. To be honest, I couldn't remember everyone's name. It was almost too much for me. I guess I thought Chris would be there next to me with a little cheat sheet or something. But no, I was on my own. More than anything, I just didn't want to make a mistake and send my future wife home on the first night.

As I handed out the roses, I started noticing Tara. I could tell she was a little shaky on her feet and that she had probably had a few too many drinks. I must admit it was a little disappointing to see her so out of it, but I'm no choir boy, and I'm the first person to admit that we all make mistakes. Tara also seemed fun and cool, someone I wanted to get to know better. Ultimately, I gave her a rose, and I don't regret it.

That was the end of one unforgettable night. Or so I thought! Kimberly pulled me aside for one more conversation. Did she really ask for a second chance? And if so, did I give it to her? You'll have to tune in next week to find out!

Okay, that's enough blogging for now. I need to go farm some stuff!

– Chris

Yahoo TV
Chris Harrison Blogs 'The Bachelor' Season Premiere
Chris Harrison January 6, 2015 3:52 AMYahoo TV

I'm extremely proud to be debuting my weekly blogs here at Yahoo TV this season. Yahoo TV has always done a fantastic job covering our show and they'll produce even more great content for Bachelor Nation this season. I will attempt to continue to entertain, have fun with the show, and give you behind-the-scenes tidbits and knowledge you can't get anywhere else. I'll also answer your burning questions, and starting this season I will include personal photos from the shoot right here on my blog.

I was excited when I heard rumors months ago that we were tossing around the idea of doing a live premiere. We've had such great success with the live finale shows we thought, why not kick off the season with the same fanfare? One of the things I wanted to bring to the live premiere was a red carpet. It was great seeing some of my old friends from past seasons, and getting a chance to say hello to so many Bachelor fans that have supported us for many years. It never ceases to amaze me how devoted Bachelor Nation is and how much you love this show.

The Bachelor and I pose outside the mansion before the limos arrived.
When I'm doing press to promote a new season I often get asked, "What makes this Bachelor different?" As you know, no two Bachelors are ever alike. I know reporters are desperate to try to stir up more dirt on the Juan Pablo season, but the truth is you can't compare Chris to Juan Pablo any more than you can compare him to Sean, Brad, or Jason. Each Bachelor brings his own history, hopes, issues, etc. to the show. We get to know these guys and try to tailor each season to who they are. And how I interact with each Bachelor changes, too; the relationship I had with Sean is different than the one I had with Chris. The best way to describe it is to compare it to the way you act around your different friends. Chris is a good man who's been brought up in the heartland, and he has a healthy respect for a hard day's work. As you saw, Chris just doesn't have the opportunity in his small town to be exposed to very many women. He really appreciated and relished the chance to meet so many dynamic women from such diverse backgrounds.

Speaking of the women, after an hour of fun and previews with the live studio audience it was time for the limos to arrive. Compared to some seasons, it was a pretty tame arrival process but here are some moments that stuck out for me:

Britt: She was first out of the limo and first into Chris's heart. They had an immediate connection that led to Britt not only getting the first impression rose she also got the first real kiss of the season.

Reegan: She walked up with a fake heart in a cooler. I can finally, literally say, "Bless her heart."

Tara: She showed up in a cowgirl outfit and quickly ordered a scotch on the rocks. She's also the first girl I can remember who did a wardrobe change and who sneaked back into the limo to make a second arrival. I was happy Chris noticed her. Of course, the arrival was probably the last thing Tara recognized or remembered that night.

Amanda: She was the secret admirer. Sure, it's a callback to Chris's secret admirer days on Andi's season, but I'm not sure the best way to make a first impression is not to make a first impression?

Kaitlyn: "You can plow the f--k out of my field any day." Need I say more?

Nicole: So, she thought it was a good idea to show up with a pig nose on? Note to future Bachelorettes: Don’t. Ever. When a guy calls your arrival gimmick "very brave," trust me — it didn't go well.

Carly: I'm a little on the fence on this one. I defer to Chris who thought the singing machine and her song were cute, so I'm letting her have a pass.

The big note during arrivals is that they didn't stop. Women and limos just kept coming all night. Thirty women finally arrived the first night, and that is a lot. It might sound odd because it's only five more than normal but it seemed like there were a hundred women in the house that night. It may have been too many, as we were barely able to fit everything we needed to into one night. You may have noticed at the end of the show the exit interviews were shot in the daylight. It was so late it actually turned into an early morning wrap that first day.

I have to give a lot of credit to our crew for being so professional and pulling these nights off season after season. A lot of coffee, good craft service, and the adrenaline of night one get us all through the night. I think the same can be said for the cast as well. The excitement of being there and experiencing such an event really pushes them through the long hours. The best way to describe it is it’s like being in Vegas. You walk into the mansion and the next thing you know the sun’s coming up.

We had to give Chris as much of a chance as possible to get to know these women so he could make informed decisions during the rose ceremony. It's a fun night to be a part of, but with so many people and so much to do it's a very long night, this one was especially long. Some of my favorite moments from this (almost) never-ending shoot:

Pomegranate Girl: You have to remember Chris isn't privy to all the interviews and moments you see, so I hope you didn't throw anything at your TV when he gave Ashley a rose. Trust me there's more gold to come from her. By the way, how many points do you get in a Bachelor fantasy league for picking the woman that picks a pomegranate assuming it's an onion? Has to be a lot!

Alfalfa Doubts: When Mackenzie asked Chris if the alfalfa he grows from the ground is organic, the look on his face was priceless.

Rose Rage: You might have noticed by the time Chris gave Britt the first impression rose, it had been manhandled by the ladies and wasn't looking too good — so we gave her a nice new one for the rose ceremony. Chris and Britt walked arm and arm back into the party after he gave her the first impression rose. That may not have been a good idea; he might as well have painted a massive target on the poor girl's back.

Chris and I had a little chat in the foyer before the rose ceremony. In an attempt to really embrace who Chris is and make the show as organic as the alfalfa he grows, we'll be doing more of this kind of stuff in the weeks to come. It’s nothing that Chris asked for, it's really just adjustments we've made as producers. We're always looking for ways to improve the show and embrace who the Bachelor is as a person. This, less formal, style seemed to fit him. We've done similar things in the past with guys like Brad and Sean, but it didn’t always make the show. This season we've found a better way to make it all work. I'll be interested to hear what all of you think of this approach.

The rose ceremony the first night is always a mix of excitement and nerves. What can you say about our girl Tara? It appears her friends Jameson, Johnny Walker, and Jim Beam did not treat her well. Tara had a little too much to drink. It happens every season and even though these people do it to themselves, I always feel a little bad for them. During the night several girls tried to get Tara to dial it back but she kept rolling. Sometimes you can't be saved from yourself.

Tara wobbles at the rose ceremony

Chris didn't notice just how sauced she was until the rose ceremony where she could barely stand up. He walked out of the room so we could talk. To be honest, he was pretty turned off by it all. He came extremely close to pulling her rose and sending her home. He ended up giving her a first night pass, but she clearly has a lot to do to make up for that performance.

As the first night (or really, morning) finally came to an end, it didn't. We were watching the interviews in the control room when we noticed that Kimberly took off. Our producer told us she was walking back in the house to talk to Chris. That's where we left you after a long, wild first night but I can confirm that you'll definitely see more about Kimberly next week.

So we're off on another adventure together and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come this season on The Bachelor. Thank you so much for being here with us each and every season. I love this show and the hundreds of people that give up their lives to make it all happen. I know what's in store in the coming weeks and I can't wait for all of you to experience it! Again I'm happy to be here at Yahoo TV, and I'll continue to work with them each week to bring you fun, interesting, behind-the-scenes information. In the meantime, you can always find me via Twitter and Instagram @chrisbharrison.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

BACHELOR 19 - CHRIS SOULES -**NO SPOILERS* - *Media- Blogs* - NO DISCUSSION Empty Chris Harrison's Blog

Post by fijibeachbum Fri Jan 16, 2015 6:17 pm

Thought I'd post this since I just saw it.

Chris Harrison Blogs 'The Bachelor' Episode 2
Yahoo TV

Unfortunately I start this week's blog with the surprising and sad news that Andi and Josh have broken up. I have been asked by many of you if we already knew before I interviewed them on the red carpet premiere show, where they talked about their wedding plans, and the answer is no. I understand that some of you may feel deceived, but I do not. Having gone through a very public personal breakup myself, I understand keeping up appearances until both parties are ready to make an announcement. In my case I had kids and family to consider, so there were times when I, too, had to do interviews and make appearances while I knew full well what was going to come out just days later. My responsibility was to my family, not to the world, and I understand that Andi and Josh are approaching things the same way. So I say to Andi and Josh that I'm very sorry and I completely understand why they did what they did. I'm also sorry for the timing of all this, and that they had to feel the need to go through the paces like they did. I know that must have been painful and awkward for them. I don't know the details of why they broke up; Andi and Josh will decide if they ever want to share the reasons, and that's completely up to them. I know the two of them loved each other very much and they shared a beautiful relationship, and again, I wish both of them happiness.

Now I want to jump back into this week's episode because it was a good one. We began with the Kimberly cliffhanger from last week. She came back in and asked Chris for another chance to get to know him better. It put Chris in a really tough spot because he didn't want to send the wrong message to all the women, but at the same time he didn't want to make a mistake and let this girl go when he obviously didn't get much of a chance to meet her. After talking it out I agreed with his decision to keep her so that he could make a better-informed choice. I told him that this is the time to make these decisions, because later on you don't really have that opportunity. The next day I sat down and had an informal chat with Chris. I'm constantly struck by how excited and appreciative Chris is for this opportunity. I also got the impression after talking to the ladies that they, too, are excited for the opportunity to date such a solid gentleman. They are all quickly learning that this is a great guy who is worth fighting for.

The first group date took the ladies to downtown LA for a rooftop pool party and, of course… a bikini tractor race??? Yep, that really happened and there's not much I can say about it that could top what you saw. Just the walk across town in their bathing suits was enough to make you duck behind your favorite box of wine.

Meanwhile back at the mansion, Megan and Jillian were snooping in Chris's house and checking out his motorcycle. (As you'll see from the photo at the top of this post, I can confirm Chris's bike is a sweet ride.) As for the group date, Ashley I. ended up winning the most un-dramatic race ever, but it was Mackenzie that got the one-on-one time later. Their time together started off awkwardly as they talked about her nose fetish and aliens, but then things got serious as Mackenzie told Chris about her son. Many women over the years have left their kids at home to try and find love, and it's obviously very tough. While this date was going on, back at the mansion, Julia was letting the ladies know her story about her husband, who committed suicide. It 's an incredibly tragic story and I find her to be an amazingly strong woman.

Megan got the one-on-one date this week, and what an incredible date it was. The two of them jetted off to Vegas for what you figured was going to be a typical Vegas date, but this was anything but. Megan and Chris then got on a chopper and headed out to the Grand Canyon where they landed and had a picnic. These two really hit it off, and I think it's pretty easy to see Chris is very interested in Megan.

The other group date will heretofore be known as the "Zombie/Ashley S date." All I can say about Ashley is "bless her heart." Like the ladies, I have no idea what's going on here. I will say this isn't an act — unless she's the greatest actress of all time. I will also agree with the ladies that there's really no way she should be walking around with a weapon, even if it's only a paintball gun.

The things that really stood out to me on this date were the obvious battle for the top spot in Chris's heart and how difficult this season is about to get for the women falling for Chris. Kaitlyn and Chris have something special: She puts him at ease and he really likes her brash carefree attitude. Britt has been a frontrunner since stepping out of the limo, and you saw again they have amazing chemistry together. But after sharing a nice long talk and a passionate kiss with Britt, Chris gave the rose to Kaitlyn. This definitely set Britt back, as everything up to this point has been smooth sailing for her.

The cocktail party was interesting because things are incredibly intense for so early in the season. We learned that Ashley I is a virgin with a magic belly-button ring. Mackenzie has an incredibly flawed theory on how men perceive virgins and is therefore quite jealous of Ashley's virginity. She's adamant that all men dream of discovering virgins, like finding unicorns, so they can capture them and take their virginity. Let's just say she's a little off.

You might have noticed Chris is not shy about making out with the ladies. But what's strange to me is how open the women are about sharing this information. All of them are running around talking about how they kissed Chris, and how many times they kissed him. Have any of you ever seen this show before? Chris is also very open about showing his affection in front of other ladies. He might need to be a little more careful as we move forward; as feelings grow so will resentment and anger if women see too much of that. After the rose ceremony we said goodbye to four more ladies. It's interesting that both women Chris gave a second chance — Tara and Kimberly — were sent home. I guess it shows how important that first impression really is.

The tease for next week's episode showed you that we have a very special guest joining us. Jimmy Kimmel, who's been a huge fan and supporter of our show, wanted to take a shot at helping Chris find love, as well as see if he could fill my shoes. We had a blast having Jimmy on set all week and I think you'll love what we have in store. Tune in next week to what may be the craziest, funniest episode you've ever seen.

Bachelor Chris Soules Blogs Episode 2 : People.com

Chris Soules's Bachelor Blog: 'I Do Need to Come Clean About One Thing'

By Chris Soules
@c_soules

When I woke up the morning after the first rose ceremony, it all seemed like a dream. Did all of that really just happen? I couldn't stop thinking how hard this was all going to be. I remember just lying in bed stressing over how I was going to choose between all these amazing women. I know, high class problem. Still, it was really stressing me out. And while I knew I had made things even harder on myself by allowing Kimberly a second chance, I was okay with that. Kimberly seemed so sincere, and we really hadn't gotten a chance to talk that first night.

Staying down the hill from the mansion was huge for me. It felt so great knowing that all the women were just a few hundred feet away. When it was time for a date or a cocktail party, I didn't have to waste any time driving over; I just ran up the hill!

Now, a few words about all these shots of me showering. As you can probably imagine, it's a little weird showering with a camera a few feet from you. I'd like to tell you that you just get used to it, but you never quite get used to it. When I shower back home, there aren't any cameras. When I shower at a hotel, there aren't any cameras. When I shower, it's just me, the water, and some shampoo and soap. (And, no, I'm not into the whole loofah thing.) Anyway, at one point when I was showering, I got a little irritated and asked the cameraman to back off a little bit. The cameraman – Marc J., one of my favorites – immediately apologized. I felt bad. Marc J. was just doing his job, and I'm sure he was even more uncomfortable than I was. Marc J., if you're reading this: I miss you! But I'm glad we're not showering together anymore.

But about the first date .... I was pumped! I just wanted to really start spending quality time with these women. And the pool party was a good way to just relax and have some fun. Walking through downtown L.A. with all those beautiful women in their bikinis was, well, interesting. I thought the walk was only going to be a couple blocks, but it ended up being more like a mile or so. If I had to do it all over again, maybe we all would have changed clothes for that walk.

Back at the mansion, Jillian and Megan had busted into my place and were having some fun of their own. They actually left me a note that I found when I returned home that night, so I knew they had been down there checking the place out. I just had no idea Megan had been ramming her head into the walls. I'm glad that helmet held up okay, Megan! And what was with all the black bars over Jillian's unmentionables? How skimpy was that bikini she was wearing?!

The tractor racing was something I was really looking forward to. I knew the women would get into it, and I was excited to see them put the pedal to the metal. However, I do need to come clean about one thing. Those are not John Deere tractors, and anyone who knows me knows I'm a John Deere guy through and through. Those tractors were Kubotas! While they aren't what I'm used to dealing with, the women had little trouble figuring out how to get them working.

The beginning of the race was a little sssssslow, but then the women figured out how to kick it into gear. I actually had to run down to the finish to catch up with them! Ashley I. won by a wheel, and we really had a great conversation. She impressed me a lot that day. However, I wanted to spend the rest of the night with just one woman, and I chose Mackenzie. I felt bad knowing the other women were heading back to the mansion, but I had just spent a night juggling 30 women, and I really wanted to focus on just one. Mackenzie surprised me in all kinds of ways that night, from revealing her thoughts on aliens and my nose to revealing that she was a mother. Mackenzie's unique, for sure!

What you don't see is that there was another woman on the date that night. A woman named Evie showed up at the bar where Mackenzie and I were having drinks, interrupted my time with Mackenzie and pulled me aside to tell me that she thought she and I would be perfect together and that I should bring her back to the mansion to join the other women on the show. Evie seemed great, but I'd already given Kimberly a second chance, and it just didn't seem fair to add another woman to the mix. Sorry, Evie!

I chose Megan for my first one-on-one date simply because Megan had made a great impression that first night, and I wanted to spend my first one-on-one date with someone who was going to just have fun. And immediately when Megan and I got in the private plane, it was fun! We laughed the entire way to Las Vegas. But you know, looking at myself there in the helicopter, I sure am showing a lot of chest. Maybe I should have buttoned another button. Don't you hate it when you're in between buttons on a shirt? The worst!

The Grand Canyon was spectacular, especially to see it the way we saw it, flying in on a helicopter. It was an experience I will never forget. I also won't forget the time Megan and I spent together there. I had no idea what she had been through just weeks prior to her coming and meeting me. If I had been in her position, I don't know if I would have been strong enough to make the same decision. Megan is one strong woman.

Little did I know, Mackenzie was back at the mansion telling all the other women about how many times we had kissed on our date the night before. That's definitely something I learned a little too late: the women tell each other everything! I guess this is what happens when you date 30 women simultaneously.

I was really looking forward to the group date because I knew everyone would have a blast. I got there well before the girls, and the zombies looked great. They were also really personable, even though they were, well, half-dead. When the limo pulled up with the girls in it, I told the zombies to go nuts and swarm the car. I was standing just off to the side taking it all in, laughing the entire time because I could hear all the women screaming from inside the limo. When I opened the door to greet them, they screamed even louder!

Shooting the zombies was fun, and even though some of the girls were freaked out by Ashley S. handling her gun, I thought Ashley S. was just having a good time with it all. I definitely wasn't scared of her, that's for sure. Out of all the girls, I think Jillian and Britt were the best shots. They really went after it.

That night, Kaitlyn and I had a chance to really talk. I knew I liked her that first night, but as I got to know her better, I realized she was more than just a break-dancing, wise-cracking Canadian. She has depth. Stay tuned for more on Kaitlyn – she's great.

Back to Ashley S. A lot of people have been asking me about her. They want to know if she is really that crazy. Ashley S. is definitely different. She's also beautiful. And sweet. And not that crazy. Did she say some things that were a little off-the-wall? Sure. She also said some things that made a lot of sense. It's not easy dating the same guy as your housemates and then having a bunch of cameras televise it. The experience was hard for her, and she expressed that to me. I really respected that, and because of that I was all for giving her a few extra chances.

The second cocktail party was a lot easier to handle than the first. For starters, I could remember everyone's name! I loved making a wish with Ashley I., and when Whitney brought me Templeton – my favorite whiskey – I was in heaven. But I wasn't looking forward to that rose ceremony. Talking to Chris Harrison definitely helped. He and I have a good relationship, and chatting with him always feels like talking to a friend. But where does Chris go during the rose ceremonies when I'm handing out all those roses? The guy just disappears until it's time for the "final rose tonight" when he appears out of thin air. Chris, where do you go? Are you in the kitchen raiding the fridge???

The rose ceremony was tough. Yes, I could remember everyone's name this time around, but that wasn't the hard part. Now I was sending women home whom I genuinely cared for but didn't see a future with. Kimberly is a beautiful woman, but saying goodbye to her the second time was even harder. And Tara is a real sweetheart. She'll make some guy very happy one day.

Thanks again for reading. Tune in next week as Jimmy Kimmel takes over and nearly ruins everything for me!
