Jacinda

Age: 33
Occupation: PA, Children’s Entertainer and Aerobics Instructor
State: NSW

Adrenaline junkie Jacinda does not shy away from her boisterous nature and sassy attitude. Oozing confidence, this Bachelorette has endless energy which she channels into her love of extreme sports and her family.

What is your best asset and why?
My tolerance and understanding. I feel people are too quick to judge in this world when they know so little about each other.

What qualities do you hope to find in The Bachelor?
I hope he is generous, kind and considerate, with strong family values. A good sense of humour with a light-hearted fun outlook on life would be amazing.

What made you apply to be part of The Bachelor Australia?
I thought it would be a great chance to do something different and if I happen to find love in the meantime, then that would be an added bonus. I am also terrible at picking men and I thought I would leave it to the experts for a change.

What’s your signature flirting move or line?
I tend to talk to them like they are my mate, with confidence and an attitude like I am in no way interested in being anything more than just friends. Gets them every time.

How are you going to stand out from the other Bachelorettes?
I am quite confident, but a total goofball. I will keep everyone entertained with my need to make fun of myself. I cannot keep still so I think my energy and loud voice will stand out.

Jacinda, centre, is a strong, outgoing woman. These are not attributes she should doubt about herself. (Pic: Channel 10)
WENDY TUOHY

Strong, funny, hot ... surely Jacinda from The Bachelor is any bright young dude’s dream.

Like plenty of women I know around her age, she’s no doormat but also has a great line in self-deprecating jokes.

Like the other busy, vibrant young women I’m lucky to know she puts herself out there and is the opposite of boring.

So why does this spirited 33-year-old — or anyone like her — think she needs to tone herself down to get a man?

Why would Jacinda and other outwardly confident young women say they worry they are too “full on” to be loved by the young blokes of now?

From what young women tell me, guys might like hanging around in the friend zone with independent girls who speak their mind ... but finding a guy who wants that for the long haul is much harder.
These women tell me many guys they date may enjoy their candour, wit and strength, but in the end they go for the “less challenging” partner. I know, it’s 2015. Still, dating sites like eHarmony advise strong women to be, well, a bit less obviously strong and independent.
One advice column titled “Women: Are you too independent?” declares: “Men want to be loved differently than women do. Whereas women long to feel adored and secure, men crave the feeling of being needed and appreciated for what they can do for you. Men need to know they add value to your life and that their presence makes it better.
Historically, men have been the providers, so they like to know they’re still bringing something to the table, even in this day and age. If you already have all your bases covered, that can be intimidating, because what can they possibly offer you?”
According to one gorgeous, brainy and strong woman I spoke to earlier this week who has struggled to meet her match, guys she meets out and about prefer the pretty, sexy and more compliant girls and it is much harder to find a man who gets you even if you do have the first two in spades but you’re on the strong side — still!
Please don’t tell me it’s true that young men now really don’t want to cope with more empowered women. I think more of contemporary guys than that. Perhaps my stunning young colleague has just been unlucky.
I don’t want to and can’t believe that any up-with-it 30-something guy would prefer — as one of the thousands of women who howled down Glamour magazine’s ‘50s-style list of 13 Little Things That Can Make a Man Fall Hard for You tweeted this week — a “quasi non-verbal sex robot in negligee” to a woman who may be his equal.

And I don’t think women with natural spark, like Jacinda, should go around feeling “insecure” about needing to tone themselves down or make themselves user friendly.

I liked Jacinda as soon as we met her on a show that’s plenty entertaining for its insights into the way some people operate, even if it does have endless potential to reduce women to set of pretty (bland) attributes.

“I’m so full on, let’s just say I wouldn’t date me,” said Jacinda, after realising on a “group date” (bleugh) with bachelor Sam Wood that she has a big personality. She jokes about her energetic self being nicknamed “hurricane Jacinda” but seems bubbly, fun and upbeat.

By Thursday’s show she was filled with so much self doubt about her own lovely outgoingness that she briefly melted down.

It broke my heart; because while there is plenty of unattractive behaviour already on display among that artificially hot-housed group of women, Jacinda is one of the most what-you-see-is-what-you-get individuals.

She seems straight-up, she says what she thinks. She’s not a fake, a princess, or a prissy manipulator. Sure, she’ll never be a speak-when-you’re-spoken-to and fetch-the-slippers ‘50s bride ... but haven’t women — and any man you’d want to date — well and truly moved past that?

If not, for both sexes, what a crying shame.

Great article! yes

I adore Jacinda!
Sad if she leaves soon (and based on her SM activity it seems she will).
Will have to see why this is the case, if she chooses to go.
Osher seems to really like her and he follows her on IG.

The Area News can exclusively reveal that Griffith girl Jacinda Gugliemino will appear on the third season of the Channel Ten reality show The Bachelor Australia.

A source close to Ms Gugliemino, who wished to remain nameless, confirmed to The Area News that the Griffith born girl will appear on the upcoming season of The Bachelor Australia.
The source said Ms Gugliemino was always the outgoing type, and it didn’t shock them at all when they found out Ms Gugliemino had been selected to appear on the reality television show.

“She always put herself out of her comfort zone no matter the setting,” they said.
“She was always the type of girl to do something for the experience, so that’s why I believe she went on the show.”

When asked whether Ms Gugliemino had watched the show before, the source couldn’t recall a time that they sat down and watched the show in seasons past.
“I don’t think she ever watched the show religiously,” they said.
“She may have watched an episode here or there, just out of curiosity though.”

Ms Gugliemino grew up in Griffith before she eventually moved away for boarding school in 1998.
After leaving university she studied art and acting.
She taught acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and worked for a talent agency before getting work as a personal assistant.
She has now devoted most of her time on a brand that she co-owns called Spundies (a spare pair of undies in a tin).
On weekends she’s found herself immersed in the entertainment industry. She plays a pirate in a kids group called The Party Pirates.
The 33 year old Griffith native hasn’t forgotten where she came from though, as she has often found herself back in Griffith to catch up with friends and family.

From that article I can see why Heather and Jacinda connected so well in addition to their personalities they both have worked in/studied art/acting/theatre, etc.

Yes, both in acting and both a bit "hippie", but I really admire her drive, enthusiasm and energy. Impressive in her work/career endeavours ... I simply adore her. If she indeed decides to leave in the upcoming episode, she will be greatly missed.

I wonder if something happens to make her leave? Like a family issue or something?

On the otherhand, she did have that meltdown about not feeling like she was enough, or rather, too full on. I wonder if she realized there was no connection with Sam on a romantic level so wanted to leave?

I could see her doing this since she seems to be a straight shooter. I do think Heather will be affected by her leaving though since they are so close.

From Heather's FB, Tessa (the one who changed into pants) and Jacinda and her are all close and seems like they were the quirky oddballs of the house.

Based on what Sam said about not being good looking while young and very skinny with buck teeth, etc, I think he also views himself as an oddball.

Think she is referring to Lana when she says "what's her face"?

I wonder if the girls were upset when she came on the show and whether she was the only girl who came on the show...

I think Tess is referring to Sandra...
I loved the fact that the girls are supporting each-other ... and what a compliment to give someone else your password to your SM ... Jacinda must have trusted her.
