Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* - #4

I just watched the part where they sat on the beach, talking. Watching this for a second time and hearing Ben saying Lauren is too good for him, there's something about the whole situation that makes me think that up to that point, Ben himself didn't realy believe that Lauren would actually say yes to him at the end of this journey. I think he believed so far that he is way more into her than vice versa. Jojo on the other hand, gave him much more obvious certainty and validation, which was IMO a huge factor that made Ben feel what he (thought he) felt towards her.

After Lauren said to him that she loved him, it was the end. Ben found that final piece of the puzzle and him asking Lauren "promise no more holding back?" (paraphrasing) the morning after seemed like a seal to the deal to me. With this being his last date, it was clear to him where his heart belongs to.

That's just my interpretation, who knows what the finale episode brings.

Not that surprised me.  it's so nice to hear confirmation of what I've been told since the beginning.

That's what I was thinking after watching the dates the correct order, limoncello. You can be sure TPTB were also messing with him, telling him Lauren isn't sure about him but Jojo is.

Lauren's hair is awful!  There, I said it.

Either take the extensions out, or cut it, or both.

Watching it back, I think he felt so much guilt on that date. The whole "you are too good for me," could also have easily been reflecting on his date with JoJo and what that means for Lauren.

Too much bleaching probably. If she actually let it grow out she's likely a brunette.

^^^ I think there's a lot of wisdom and good intuition in this. There's probably been some truth to Ben's self-image of being unlovable - formed because one (maybe more?) of the girls he's loved haven't returned his love. It's been clear to me that Ben has been chasing Lauren from the very beginning but has really never received any positive indication from her that she wants to be caught. We've seen it but they (the producers) have kept Ben from knowing it. That left Ben vulnerable to JoJo's admission that she loved him - which he heard before Lauren ever had a chance to tell him how she felt - and Ben reacted predictably (IMO) by returning the ILY. It's likely (IMO) that the producers had him primed to do just that ("You know Ben, we're in your corner and if JoJo says she loves you you need to make sure you don't throw that back in her face - let her know.") And that's exactly what Ben did. Later, when Lauren finally told him she was in love with him, it could have been a combination OMG and Aw s**t moment rolled into one.

I actually don't think she has extensions. Maybe she does....but the problem is that she just doesn't have good hair.  It's SUPER curly (and overprocessed) and I think the humidity was wreaking havoc on it.

Definitely. He has said that he was worried about her leaving twice already, during the recap and when he told her last week and his narrative of "a schoolboy chasing after his crush" just solidifies it. I think Lauren definitely was more guarded and was more "hard-to-get" where Ben actually had to make more of an effort to win her over whereas someone like Jojo was more open and forward with her feelings hence leading him to feel more confident with her. And given his "unlovable" spiel, he could've fallen in that bubble of being wanted and knowing that he's wanted that he got from Jojo vs. Lauren being more guarded.
