Shari Flavall - Bachelor New Zealand - Season 2 1458001238986

Name: Shari Flavall
Age: 24
Occupation: Early Childhood Teacher
Hometown: Paraparaumu

Favourite book: 50 Shades of Grey

What are you looking for in a bachelor?

"Someone who has a kind soul and knows how to look after himself."

How did your family and friends react when you revealed you were going to be on The Bachelor NZ season 2?

"They were so excited for me. We had a little celebration and had a little send of, with a nice glass of wine."

Were you worried about how people were going to perceive you?

"No, I wasn't, I don't really care what people think of me, I know who I am and my friends and family know who I am."

Did you have a game plan or strategy going into the first cocktail party?

"Not really. I didn't want to interrupt any other bachelorettes chatting to Jordan, I just wanted be myself; I know everyone says that, but yea."

Watching the show, do you think the contestants, including yourself, are portrayed fairly on TV?

"Yes, to a certain degree. The bachelorettes all of course want to get to know Jordan, but being amongst 20 other girls trying to get to know one man, it might come across like we are desperate when some of us definitely aren't."

Which bachelorettes do you resonate with best and why?

"I got on really well with Fleur, Nicole, Storm, Sarah. They were super fun, we shared lots off jokes, and had an ability to bring it all back down to earth."

The Bachelor NZ: 'Now I'm actually on Tinder' - Shari

Booted bachelorette Shari Flavall has "no regrets" about her time on The Bachelor NZ.

On Tuesday night, TV3 viewers watched on in disbelief as Jordan Mauger chose to send the 24-year-old crowd favourite home, without a rose.

"My mum actually sent me an application and told me to go on (the show) pretty much," said Flavall on Wednesday morning.

"I guess going into it, I was expecting all of the girls to be a bit more, I don't know, bitchy? But they were all actually so lovely, which I was just stoked about. At first it was quite hard (watching myself on TV) then I realised that's just sort of who I am, I am a bit awkward, I do make jokes, that's just me."

Flavall, who made it to the top 10 in the reality TV romance competition, was unceremoniously sent home during Tuesday night's episode, for "hiding behind her humour" and struggling to open up.

"Watching the episode, you can see (Jordan) was trying to get me to open up to him and I didn't, so off he sent me, on my way. I think we started off with a spark and yea, then we kind of just became friends and it just stayed at that," she said.

"I think a lot of the girls at this stage, they are opening up to him and really letting their feelings out, which I just didn't feel comfortable doing just yet."

"It's a weird situation, if I had more time then maybe I would, but I didn't."

When asked how the cocktail parties played out in real life, Flavall admits they were "just as uncomfortable as they looked on TV".

"I had my whole single date, which was great. It's hard to say how much time we actually spent together, at the cocktail parties you hardly saw him because he was always being whisked away."

"The girls are just lining up to go talk to (Jordan). I shared a room with Storm, Ceri, Sarah and Nicole," she said.

"And I think one of those girls and maybe Fleur, will win, they're all lovely, I love all of them."

While she may have gone home empty handed, the former bachelorette is anything but jilted and could even argue she's already "well on her way" to moving on.

"I am on Tinder now, yes, as of last night. It was my friends (on my account) previously. But now, it's going great for me," she said.

"I had a Tinder account before I went on the show and then I sort of got rid of it, then they went on it. But now, it's me back on it. I'm back on the market."

"I have had a few (right) swipes, a few roses that some guys have given me."

Flavall quickly gained viewer's support as social media users around the country piqued the bubbly brunette to win Mauger's heart and walk away from the competition with the final rose.

Season one winner Matilda Rice said Flavall was her favourite contestant, "hands down".

"I love it," she said of the public backing and social media praise. "Of course, I love hearing it."

During her first rose ceremony in Hawaii, Flavall showcased her sense of humour by responding 'Shaka, brah' when offered a rose.

"Oh, yea, (that) has definitely followed me around," she laughed. "I've had people come up to me in the street saying 'Shaka, blah'"

"I do still have my Michael Hill necklace, it's at home right now, nice and safe. It's so fancy I wouldn't know what to wear it to?"

The former bachelorette described her experience as amazing and says she is still on talking terms with all of her former roommates - including the series' villain, Naz.

"I think Naz is actually lovely," she said. "She may have mentioned this 'hit-list' once. She's definitely made out to be the nasty girl but she is lovely. I was on her hit-list, and I'm honored."

Shari: 'Jordan isn't boyfriend material'

Shari left The Bachelor mansion last night without a rose, admitting she and Jordan had no spark. "We got a little bit friend-zoned," she explained to Scout.

The 24-year-old has given up on finding Mr Right and has jumped on Tinder since flying home from Hawaii. She said she's receiving "lots of super likes" on the dating app.

It appears there's no shortage of blokes watching this season of The Bachelor NZ, as Shari admits every message, without fail, has made reference to her time in the show. "Lots of rose [emojis]" jokes Shari.

She is hopeful that she will find her ideal man.

But she knew Jordan wasn't the man for her. "You need a spark. You need to have that and that [spark] just wasn't there."

Shari went on: "I am glad I got to know Jordan, he is a great guy. Just not boyfriend material for me."

The early childhood teacher admitted there's a risk of divorced dads passing on their numbers at the school gate, joking: "That'd be nice, get some step-kids."

Looking back on her infamous "shaka brah" moment, Shari says it still makes her laugh, not cringe.

"They [the rose ceremonies] are just so serious!" explains Shari, admitting she hadn't planned the comment ahead of time, but was pleased to have lightened the mood.

The resident funny woman agrees she failed to take the contest as seriously as her fellow Bachelorettes, preferring instead to focus on having "a laugh" in the mansion.

Shari leaves the mansion, and the show, with no regrets: "It was the best experience of my life. I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
