Re: Art
Kasha, interesting that you say this thread is to calm and enjoy. As I have gone through these posts yesterday and today and reflected on the art, I have actually recognized and identified that internal sense of calm in myself. This thread is great! I am really enjoying it. I will post some images when I am using my home computer.

Glad to have you and your contributions, Mia!

My doctor asked me: "Does anyone in your family suffer from mental illness?" My answer:"No they all enjoy it immensely."
No good deed goes unpunished.

Re: Art
This is a lovely idea Kasha. I'm a big art/history lover and try to get to the ROM and AGO in Toronto whenever there is a good exhibit on. Coincidentally, coming up in October:

Re: Art
One of my favorite things in life are trees. I love photographs of trees. All kinds, shapes, and sizes. In black and white or in color. Single trees from afar or very up close. A group or line of trees. In all seasons. The shape and texture of branches, leaves, bark, roots. I truly love every inch of a tree.

Here's a poem that many of you are probably familiar with:
Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918
Trees
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Re: Art
So do personal pictures count as art? I love interesting photographs.
Here's some trees for you Mia.
This first one is a place in Juneau, Alaska that takes the fallen trees, drives them into the ground upside down, and uses the root ball as a flower bed. The second one is of the giant redwoods in Northern California. The third one is a fallen redwood with my 6 foot son in the distance. To say these trees are tall and wide is an understatement.

Re: Art
My only piece of original art, done by a friend. I couldn't stop looking at it so I had to buy it. I love the mid century vibe.

Gorgeous photos, Mustang.
Everything artlike counts. Why not?
Food for our eyes!

The trees in the top photo are so cool. I have never seen anything like that before.
I have been to Muir Woods Redwood Forest in CA. Those redwoods are amazing. I love the perspective of the second photo, looking up to the sky. I can almost smell the forest in the third picture! Thank you for sharing.

I know very little about art. I apologize for posting pics that are not considered Art, but I find beautiful and have meaning.
Thanks GA and Mustang19.
