Dropping this off here because I don't think we have a thread yet for Bachette AU 2018?  Tully Smyth wants Lead:

Well according to the article she's "over that" now apparently.   Rolling Eyes

Tully Smyth is adamant she is no longer a bisexual and instead prefers to date the opposite sex.

Don't get me started.  I've got a gripe against women who go gay for a while just to be "edgy" or to titilate men - it makes a mockery of genuine bisexuality.

So she was bi in 2013 when Big Brother needed a MFF love triangle/controversy to spice things up and now that Bette needs a lead she's conveniently straight?

Like I said, don't get me started...

It just says to me she was playing a role to get onto Big Brother and is now doing the same in reverse to try to get onto Bachelorette - not someone who would make a good Lead IMO.  A good Lead needs to be genuine (or at least come across that way) for the show to be believable.

I would actually have no problem with a bisexual Lead and mixed gender cast - it could make for a very interesting show - but it would need to be a special Lead.  I don't think it would ever happen though - TPTB couldn't handle it IMO because it wouldn't fit with their usual formula/script.

Anyway I doubt Tully has a shot - I think TPTB are going to be looking for a legitimate celebrity.  I'd like to think they might ditch celebrity Leads entirely and go back to an unknown, but the trend seems to be towards high profile/known Leads after the ratings success of Sophie's season.

laugh out loud @sprite i am with you, please just NO to Tully no no

@Bobette i didn't read the article the title of the article turned me off reading it! laugh out loud so now she says she doesn't like girls anymore? well i guess maybe until they throw her some girls as intruders then she might change her mind.....I agree she is making a mockery with her "bi" status.....She would be so silly to even contemplate going back on reality TV for love especially after all the hate she got last time on big brother....JMO

Well now this is interesting:

'Sophie Monk was a lesson for all of us': Ten CEO Paul Anderson signals drastic changes to Bachelor franchises as he wants 'all programs to be suitable for his 14-year-old daughter'

Sophie Monk's The Bachelorette season was a ratings juggernaut.

But Channel Ten CEO Paul Anderson has hinted that drastic changes are in-store for the entire franchise - including next year's Bachelor in Paradise.

Speaking at the Screen Forever conference on Thursday, Paul insisted all of the network's shows must be suitable for his 14-year-old daughter, Millie.

'I have what I call "The Millie Test"... I have to be able to sit down and watch all of our shows with her,' he said.

Paul claimed that he could clearly do that with MasterChef and Survivor, and appeared to imply The Bachelor franchise toed the line considerably more.

He stopped short of denouncing it however, instead praising Head of Programming Beverley McGarvey for her efforts to make the show family friendly.

His main issue seemed to be with casting, insisting: 'Sophie Monk I think was a good lesson for all of us.'

Paul said the star's success proved that having someone: 'real, if not, slightly unusual (like Sophie)' was the way to go.

'And I think without getting in too much trouble from my programming team, there needs to be some real colour and variation in the shows,' he continued.

In what may come across as a dig at Matty J, he concluded: 'Picking the nice Bachelor, the ex head-boy is not going to sort of drive those shows into the future.'

The ratings for Matty's season certainly didn't set the world on fire, with only the finale cracking the magic million in terms of viewership.

It remains unclear how Paul's requirement for all programs to be suitable for his daughter may effect the upcoming Bachelor in Paradise series.

Typically considered the most scandalous of the US creation's formats, it features rejects from the show's previous seasons.

Unlike The Bachelor, it allows all contestants to mingle with one another freely, making casual flings - and the inevitable consequences - far more common.

The past season of The Bachelor drew many adults-only controversies, including the leak of illicit images exposing two contestants as former topless waitresses.

In August, further images surfaced, showing contestant Leah Costa laying face down, topless and with two men putting white lines of powder on her bottom.

The Bachelorette fared better, although in October, NSW police confirmed they were investigating contestant Blake Colman over revenge porn allegations.

Note to Paul Anderson:  Sorry dude but your 14 yo daughter is probably watching WAY worse things than the Bach on the internet without your knowledge!

Taking out the sauciness from Bach is like McDonalds selling salads IMO - trying to be something it's not.  A G-rated season of Bach does not entice me at all.

Well if Paul reads this I can tell you the biggest attraction for menfornSophies season was her genuine compassion for all of the guys there. Matty was a self obsessed poo head when it came to letting go of anyone JMO
