....and here it is. Only a matter of time. I'm 20 minutes to the border and cross over often as many people from border towns do. However, there is no way that I would have attempted to cross over since this whole fiasco started. They have to keep the truckers going through, and people cross over from both sides to work, so they would be allowed. Other than that, not sure who else.

Wow! I’m glad we don’t have any trips planned. Our 3 week driving vacation there last summer seems such a distant memory right now.

I'm feeling very sad about this, although it's totally necessary.

Unfortunately the Buffalo area is reporting 11 cases in Erie county which is Buffalo and other cities and one death. Their first case was only a few days ago.

Just reported 9 new cases total 20 including 20's 30's and a 40 yr old community spread. sad

Announced yesterday by the governor of Ohio for the 67 cases in the state:

Age range: 14 to 86 years
Median age is 48.

16 out of 88 counties have cases.
17 of the 67 are in the hospital.

Can't find the stat but men outnumber women in the number of cases as well per Dr. Amy Acton in the live press conference.

No one is safe from this disease no matter the age.

This is an amazing article!

Aggressive testing helps Italian town cut new coronavirus cases to zero

In Veneto, the authorities plan to expand the aggressive testing regime in the whole region and are seeking to take at least 11,000 swabs a day. “If someone calls the [virus] hotline and says they are sick then everyone in the family, all their friends and the whole building get tested,” said Prof Crisanti.

Maybe they're citing this early study: "Case fatality rate for males was 2.8% and for females was 1.7%" of 44,672 cases in China.

Did Dr. Amy say it was the same trend for U.S. or European cases?

@veg_out

No Dr. Amy gave the exact number of males and females that have been diagnosed in Ohio but I didn't write down the number and it is not on any informational sites or the Dept of Health's twitter account.

She stated yesterday she is going to do a timeline in Ohio today so I will have paper/pencil ready!

All those people will be returning home all across the world travelling through airports and chances are they won't self isolate.

This is an example of the ignorance and uneducated right now.

I was speaking to a gentleman yesterday who is planned on driving to Florida this morning to pick up his wife rather than her travelling through airports. In light of today's news closing the border into the U.S I'm wondering if they let him through.

Yeah, the one case in a county near me is a male in his 20's that had been in Florida.

The County EMA director for my county posted the press release on their FB page.  This county is west and south of us and the southern part of my county (I'm in the middle) shares a "corner" with it.

:crazed duh

Edit to add:

Just reported on today's press: there is a 2 year old in Ohio that is infected and hospitalized. Oldest is 91. 55 men/33 women total of 88 in the state.

They are now shutting down salons/spas, hair dressers, barbers and that type of business. Those business has asked for a decision to be made state wide.

County libraries can stay open, it is a county decision. Mine closed down Monday, I received an email for a E-card today Smiley

The biggie: Bureau of Motor Vehicle offices in the state will be closed. Only 5 will be open only so that they can issue CDL's so the trucking industry can keep moving. A pause has been put in place for all others and law enforcement is directed to not ticket for expirations.
