Tuesday, July 17, 2012 ABC Television Network PRESS RELEASE -

PRESS RELEASE - ENTERTAINMENT - ON THE SEASON FINALE OF THE BACHELORETTE, AND AFTER THE FINAL ROSE (7/22)

SEASON FINALE

IT'S ONE OF THE MOST DRAMATIC AND ROMANTIC EVENINGS EVER ON ABC
WITH A SPECIAL LIVE EVENT FOR "THE BACHELORETTE," SUNDAY, JULY 22

Chris Harrison Hosts the Three-Hour Live Event as Emily Agonizes Between Choosing
Arie or Jef to Complete Her Family, on the Two-Hour Finale of ABC's "The Bachelorette"

And Immediately Following the Season Finale, Both Arie and Jef Join Emily to Look Back at the Shocking Outcome of Their Journey, Live, on "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose"

"Episode 810" - After her broken engagement to Brad Womack, single mother Emily Maynard risked everything for a second chance at love, searching not just for a husband but for a father figure for her six-year-old daughter, Ricki. Now, after surviving some stunning twists and turns, Emily has narrowed down the 25 bachelors to two fabulous guys, Arie and Jef. Although her two relationships have progressed at different speeds - passionate and steamy from the start with Arie, while the other with Jef just grew out of a playful crush - Emily is completely in love with both men. She hopes her family, now on the beautiful island of Curaao, will offer some crucial input on which bachelor would make the better match for her. Emily is totally torn between her two suitors and whether she even should introduce Ricki to them. Which man will she choose to leave paradise with and to share her life? Or will she decide not to hand out a final rose? The Season Finale of "The Bachelorette" airs SUNDAY, JULY 22 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Then, emotions run high as Emily sits down with Chris Harrison, live, to talk about her final two bachelors. She will take viewers back to those final days in exotic Curaao when she was conflicted about being in love with two men. Emily will discuss her relationships with Arie and Jef and the heart-wrenching decision that changed all of their lives forever. Both men return to share the bombshell outcome of the series. It's the emotional ending to Emily's heartfelt journey to find true love, live, on "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose," SUNDAY, JULY 22 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET).

Emily's daughter, Ricki, joins her in Curaao, which only reminds Emily of the magnitude of her upcoming decision. Not only is it a question of whom she should choose, but whether she should introduce the two remaining men to the most important person in her life. Confused and overwhelmed, Emily turns to her family for their thoughts on which handsome, terrific bachelor they think would be the best for her and Ricki.

Jef is the first to arrive to meet Emily's family and makes a great impression. He has a crucial discussion with Emily's mom about fatherhood and another important conversation with her dad about whether he is ready to propose. Then it's Arie's turn. Emily's family is skeptical about how he will compare with Jef. But this charming bachelor appears, presenting a thoughtful gift, and her family is quickly impressed with him. But will he win over Emily's overprotective brother and her father? Emily's family won't make this easy for her, explaining that they like both men and this is her decision to make. And then her mother makes an astonishing suggestion. Will Emily take her mother's advice, and how will that impact her potential happy ending?

With two possible proposals just days away, Emily hopes the last-chance dates with the two men will bring clarity to what is currently an impossible decision. Will she introduce the men to Ricki? Will she hand out her final rose? And if she does, will the final bachelor accept it and propose?

The two remaining men are:
Arie, 30, a race car driver from Scottsdale, AZ
Jef, 27, an entrepreneur from Salt Lake City, UT

About the Finale:

Maynard and the lucky final bachelors close out the season on this island paradise, delving into the alluring history and culture, sinking their toes into the sandy beaches and reveling in the crystalline blue of Curacao's azure waters.

Maynard's search for love continues as the suitors settle in at one of Curacao's most unique boutique resorts, the Sandton Kura Hulanda Hotel & Spa. The historic hotel is a luxurious retreat boasting a unique location in the colorful Dutch Colonial historic district of downtown Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Maynard and her suitors will stroll the cobblestone pathways of the hotel as they explore the famous anthropological Museum Kura Hulanda and the meticulously restored buildings, showcasing the Dutch architecture of the 17th and 18th century.

Curacao's Sirena Bay Estate will be home to Maynard and her daughter in this finale episode, with its breathtaking ocean views, world-class art collection and 18th century Dutch 'landhuis' style building in downtown Willemstad. Its secluded location and private pools serve as the idyllic setting for the Bachelorette.

Bachelorette Maynard will set off to the Santa Barbara Plantation, 1,500 acres of beautiful views and landscaping, offering up one of the most luxurious golf and marina resort communities in the Caribbean. At one of the historic mansions on this expansive plantation, the remaining men will have the opportunity to meet Maynard's parents and family members.

Maynard and the bachelors will delight in a romantic date at Dinah Veeris' Botanic & Herb Garden -- "Den Paradera" -- a lush herb and botanical garden.

As millions of viewers hold their breath, Maynard's decision will come during the Rose Ceremony in the Village Square of the beautiful Sandton Kura Hulanda Hotel & Spa.

Thank you cfck! :)

cfck2222 wrote:Your 1st look at the new tabloids:

No main cover stories but US Weekly, Life & Style, and In Touch all include an Emily's choice story as one of their feature stories mentioned on the cover.

US Weekly claims Emily woke up the final morning determined not to accept a proposal. But, its 4 page spread (which has around 2 pages of text) claims at the end of its story that she did accept a proposal. The story claims that unlike previous leads, Emily was truly torn between 2 guys, with an anonymous show source saying she genuinely fell for 2 good guys. Sean is quoted saying good things about both Jef and Arie. The story claims that as the FRC day approached, both guys started to really think about the importance of the occasion and a possible proposal considering a child is involved. The story quotes an anonymous source saying one of the men had "a moment of clarity" and it plays a "big role in the outcome". There is no information on how Emily and her F1 are doing now.

Life & Style teases a story about Emily being worried she made the wrong choice. The story is kind to neither Jef nor Arie. The Jef part comes first: the L&S story talks about him getting coaching from Michelle via Doug about how to win over Emily. It further claims that Jef was spotted flirting and enjoying the attention from the ladies at a 4th of July celebration in the parking lot of a 7-11 in Provo, Utah. There are 3 pictures presented as part of the story (and presented as "exclusive"), one of Jef with his arm around 2 young women who are each kissing one of his cheeks, and 2 other pictures of Jef with his arm around a female. Not on the level of Ben's buttgrabbing pictures, and when you folks see the pictures, I'm sure there will be some debate as to how recent any of them are. The use of smart phone cameras and lighting differences probably contributed to what struck me as differences in Jef's hair, face, and outer shirt color in 2 of the pics (I'm pretty sure he's wearing a different outer shirt in the 3rd pic), but it is true that he's wearing the same white roundneck undershirt with blue trim neckline in 2 of the pictures. The story further claims Jef's a player, prefers the company of younger women, and isn't ready to be a father (quoting his brother's comment during HTDs). The article also quotes Stephen R., a resident of Jef's hometown, as saying that though Jef isn't himself a practicing Mormon, his parents would prefer for him to marry someone who shares their faith.

As far as Arie, it's more of the same that we've already read in other places: he's a ladies man who brought his girlfriend to a New Year's Eve party and flirted with 2 other women in front of her (I think this is from the L&S story), and he's on the show for the publicity (I think this story also claims Arie made a crass comment about Emily's breasts to Jef). The story ends by saying an anonymous pal is confident Emily will make it through if it doesn't work out with her F1, but also says that despite Jef's strategic play he did fall for Emily, and maybe Arie's grown out of his playboy ways.

In Touch reiterates its claim that Emily was dumped by the guy she'd intended to choose but is happy with the other guy now. It also reiterates negative characterizations of Jef and Arie's characters. A supposed "friend" of Jef's (hardly, when you read what he says) is quoted as saying he's a jerk and his supposedly philanthropic People Water has only dug one well despite their grandiose claims (while an insider claims they have plans for 3 wells). Both Jef and Arie are characterized as players. Arie is said to claim he's not a trust fund baby but an anonymous source also says he has a troubled relationship with his father because he's nowhere near as good a racer as his dad and basically drives tourists around the Indy circuit because he's not good enough to actually race. Either L&S or In Touch claims Arie didn't spend much time with the two children of his ex. In Touch has an inset on Sean saying Emily may end up regretting not picking him because he was actually a good guy.

[My take: At this point in the season, US Weekly's coverage is generally reflective of what is going on. It will be interesting to see if that "moment of clarity" is one where one guy takes himself out on the grounds that he can't/won't propose because he a) has (storyboarded) cold feet or b) feels he should get to know Emily and Ricki better before proposing is a consideration, or if it's one where a guy realizes he is ready to take on the responsibilities of being a father and decides he's ready to propose.

I don't know why Life & Style has gone negative. Its claims about Jef on July 4th are probably going to add nothing in the sense that Team Jef will say there's no proof of the photos being from when L&S says they were and the photos aren't that damning anyway while Team Not Jef will say they aren't a good sign. Me, I see it both ways and have no interest in entering that debate.]

US Weekly also discusses Sean's entry into the next Bachelor sweepstakes, saying Roberto's hesitation has prompted producers to move on to considering Sean.

Exclusive Pics – Bachelorette Emily Maynard Runs Errands In Charlotte Without A Ring On Her Finger!

Bachelorette 8 - Media - No Discussion Aafndjsa

INF Daily’s photogs caught up with Bachelorette Emily Maynard getting back to her old life in Charlotte, North Carolina over the last few days. While she may have spent a many weeks going on fancy dates in foreign countries and choppering to private islands for picnics, these days her life is a bit less exotic.

When we caught up with Emily she was shopping at her local dollar store (how practical!) and a small boutique called Chezelle. Later on she picked up several packages and lugged them to her car. We couldn’t help but notice that there’s no engagement ring on Emily’s finger. Of course that doesn’t mean she’s not engaged – The Bachelorette finale doesn’t air until this Sunday, and she’s gotta keep the results under wraps until then.

Q+A: How to Date Emily Maynard

Or, you know, the woman everyone in the room wants. Lessons from The Bachelorette's Bachelorette, who's sort of been through a lot.

By Matt Goulet

Emily Maynard, twenty-six-year-old single mother and star of ABC's The Bachelorette, will choose between the love of two men this Sunday night in front of a whole lot of other people watching at home. It's the kind of thing she pulls off surprisingly well. She even seems, well, downright charming. So we called her up to see what insights her experience has given her that would be useful to men who are looking for other such charming women, not necessarily on national TV.

ESQUIRE.COM: So that first night, you walk in the door, and there are, what, sixteen guys staring at you?

EMILY MAYNARD: Twenty-five.

ESQ: Oh my god. Even worse.

EM: Yeah.

ESQ: And all the attention's on you. What's going through your head?

EM: I was so nervous, obviously. You don't really know how to feel. They all have lives back home, and families and jobs and everything. I just wanted to be worthy of them giving all that up. You know what I mean?

ESQ: Did you feel empowered at all by it?

EM: Honestly, no. It was cool. I'm a firm believer in girl power. That's why I love The Bachelorette so much over The Bachelor. But I was still so scared. And if I could go back, I might go into it with a little bit more of that mindset. But you never know if it could be the first season in the history of the show where the guys are like, "You know what? This girl's pretty lame. I think I'm gonna go home. I'm good."

ESQ: Is that even possible?

EM: I think it's happened before. Not all of them, obviously. But who knows? Maybe there were guys on my season who wanted to go home and just hung around for the free booze.

ESQ: It does seem to flow pretty freely over there. So what does one of these men do to get your attention?

EM: Every girl's different, but for me, I tend to like guys who kind of hang at the back and aren't the guy who's like, "Look at me up here. I'm so great. I have such a fantastic job." I like guys who are just themselves and genuine and funny.

ESQ: So you don't want the attention?

EM: All girls like attention. But in that setting, I was more drawn to the guys who had a quieter confidence than the guys who came in on a helicopter.

ESQ: And some of those guys are visibly sweating. What can you do for them?

EM: I remember getting out of the limo on Brad's season [of The Bachelor], and I can honestly say I don't know if I've ever been so nervous in all my life. I tried to remember that, as the guys were getting out, they were really nervous, too. And just be a real human with them, help them to realize it's just two people standing there talking, and you ignore all the cameras. After a while, you really do get used to it.

ESQ: The opposite of that, I think, is Ryan, who sat you down after you didn't give him the rose on your one date, and it seems like you were there for a half-hour, while he tried to convince you that you were wrong.

EM: I'm sure there are a lot of girls who fall for that. That's usually a sign to me that something else is wrong, if somebody is overly confident or a salesman for himself. That's not attractive to me at all.

ESQ: And in the latest episode, you're dating these people in front of their families. That seems a little tough.

EM: I was terrified. I remember my brother bringing girls home growing up, and I was hard on him, you know? That's my brother. So I thought, This is karma. I'm gonna get my ass kicked by all these sisters. And everybody was so nice. My family was really skeptical of all of this and didn't really understand, and they weren't on Brad's season, so I wanted to show how genuine I am in finding somebody. This isn't the most traditional way of going about it, but it can work and be very real.

ESQ: So how does one of the quiet guys make his move?

EM: You have to give a girl a little bit, but not smother her. I saw something in a couple of the guys, like Sean. He's like a vault almost. And he hung out in the back a lot. But I saw something really special in him that I wanted to get to know better. So it made me work a lot harder. And Jeff — he was not into it at all, so it really made me want to work for it. Eventually, true feelings really do start to grow.

ESQ: I was thinking what my strategy would be. The first night, you don't want to get too crazy. But then, I feel like, if something's working, you have to make a move, to go in for the kiss, and be one of the first guys to do that.

EM: Sometimes I think it's good to wait.

ESQ: Yeah?

EM: Yeah, because it makes a girl want it even more and stress out. Why isn't he doing it?

ESQ: So when should he go in for the kiss?

EM: I'd say your first one-on-one date. Maybe.

ESQ: And if I was friendly with all the other guys, would that work out?

EM: I don't think any guy that's being super-competitive over a girl — I don't think that's attractive at all. I want to know that the person I'm with, potentially forever, can be put in any situation and get along with everybody. I don't want him fighting at Christmas parties and stuff. But honestly, all the guys on my season were such good friends that I would walk into a room and think, Am I crashing guys' night? This is awkward. You guys get along too well.

ESQ: So I guess you don't mind being the center of attention among twenty-five men.

EM: I don't like my birthday. I just don't enjoy it. But honestly, being the Bachelorette — any girl who says they wouldn't enjoy that is not being totally honest with themselves.

ESQ: You've done both shows now. Would you say it's better for the man to be the Bachelor or a contestant on The Bachelorette?

EM: Being a Bachelorette was way more fun.

ESQ: Anything else men should know to not do?

EM: Don't come in dressed as a grandmother. Don't compare my daughter to an egg. Those are probably at the top of my list.

ESQ: It seems like you kept some of those guys around a little too long.

EM: It was good, actually. That was a good lesson for me.

ESQ: The egg guy was there through three rose rounds, right?

EM: A little bit further than that, to be honest. He stayed 'til Croatia, which — I don't know if it speaks louder for him or for me. But he was really, really nice. And, honestly, it's fun to have somebody there that just made you laugh.

ESQ: That makes me want to ask about the crying. I've never seen so many grown men tear up.

EM: They did. And I was super-awkward. I think I just made it worse. You would think, as a mom, I should be good at that. But I just wasn't. I learned that about myself, too.

ESQ: Well, a seven-year-old girl is a bit different than a twenty-eight-year-old man.

EM: [Laughs] Thank God for that.

Bachelorette Poll Results: TVGuide.com Users Want Emily to Choose...
The Bachelorette's Emily Maynard isn't the only one conflicted over which man she should choose. TVGuide.com users are too!

In a recent poll asking if Emily should choose Arie, Jef, neither or the recently eliminated Sean, voters were almost evenly split between the guys.

Bachelorette Video: Will Emily's father give the men his blessing?

Jef, 27, came out on top, receiving 40 percent of more than 3,800 votes. Although Emily wasn't sure how Jef felt about her early on, he told her he loved her (marionette style) in Prague and read her a heart-melting letter he wrote during their hometown date.

Arie, 30, won 27 percent of the votes. The IndyCar racer had an immediate — and very passionate — connection with Emily.

Sean, 28, was eliminated in third place, but received 28 percent of the votes. Fans were disappointed when Emily sent him home in Curacao and although he's no longer in the running, he could pull a Reid and show up to propose in the final hour.

Just 6 percent of voters want Emily to choose no one on Sunday's finale.

Do you think Emily will follow our readers' advice?

Amberish wrote:NATALIE GETZ’S BACHELORETTE BLOG: FINALE

Finale: Finally!

This has been such an anticipated season finale, that it felt like it took forever to come. Emily is going to introduce the guys to her family today and try to figure out which one she wants to be with for the rest of her life. Eeeeek!

Emily and Jef: Emily’s brother didn’t like the skinnys

I LOVE Jef, but he maybe should have left the skinny jeans at home this time. I remember I brought home a boyfriend one time that was dressed more femininely, and my brother was uncomfortable. I didn’t know this until after we broke up! Emily’s father and brother were basically wearing company shirts and were the farthest thing from being stylish and both super masculine. They probably thought Jef was kidding at first! The finale is the only episode I don’t get early, so I apologize for the lack of photos. Jef blends in with Emily’s family just as well as Emily did his. I wonder if she has met his parents yet?

Emily and Jef are finally alone and Jef is basically begging to meet Ricki. He explains that if he were going to be a father to her, he would like to meet her first. Emily finally folds and her and Jef have the sweetest little play date with Ricki. Jef is great with Ricki and watching him goof around with her made me so happy!

Emily’s outfits this date were insane! She wore the coolest sarongs with bright neon colors. Her white bikini was definitely my favorite! I love her casual style with a basic tank tucked into a long skirt with a cool necklace to jazz it up. She was also wearing a denim shirt that I think I own and am obsessed with.

At this point, I was watching the DVR and wondering how on Earth she was going to fit in a date with Arie in such a short time…

Emily and Arie: NUTS!

Emily sits down to talk to Chris H. and is immediately in tears. She claims she already knows she wants to be with Jef and that her mind is made up. I have a lot of respect for Emily for doing this and not dragging it out with Arie, however, a part of me disagrees. It’s not like she was always more about Jef than she was Arie. She had different feelings for both of them. She was actually more about Arie than Jef for a long time. She already took Arie this far and introduced him to her family, so she may as well went on a final date with him and introduced him to Ricki. Emily may have seen something more to him while he interacted with her daughter. Ricki is the closest thing to Emily, so if Arie would have hit it off with her, I’m sure Emily would have been extra confused. Everyone has to make his or her own decision, but I was truly heart broken for Arie. He better be the next Bachelor! Oh and PS- if they were sparing his feelings, why on Earth did they let him make love potion all day anticipating Emily’s arrival? The pain in his eyes had me in tears and I truly wanted it to be those two in the end. I like Jef a lot, but I’m still team Arie!

Engagement: Worst. Background. Ever.

The long flowing, pink edgy gown Emily wore was hands down the greatest dress I have EVER seen on this show. She looked as flawless as ever! This dress was perfect for her personality and for Jef’s liking. It was elegant but spicy with the metal detail. I normally don’t like hard metal on dresses, but this was done perfectly! I thought it was great that Emily didn’t do any of the teasers to Jef, making him think she may not choose him. Right away, she told him that Arie wasn’t there and that she was so in love with him. These two are stinkin’ cute! Jef then pours his heart out to Emily with awful scenery in the background. Seriously what the hell was that all about? Past contestants get mountains, glaciers, beaches, etc….and Emily got condo associations in her background? Sweet. The ring is gorgeous, she is gorgeous, Jef is gorgeous, Ricki is gorgeous. After The Rose: ASHLEY AND JP! Love those two:)

Seeing these two this happy and knowing they have seen each other ever weekend is really cool. Unlike her emotions with Brad’s after the rose, her face was beaming and full of happiness. Jef couldn’t contain his happiness either! The two of them were super cute to watch as they watched themselves get engaged for the first time. Emily played this game perfectly, not allowing anyone in the fantasy suite and not leading Arie any further. I say this, because most of the relationships end out of jealousy, but Emily made sure to give all her attention to one guy and keep her libido under control! I bet these two have a televised wedding within the year!

As far as Arie is concerned, I felt so bad for him. It’s cool he is friends with Jef and that’s helping him through his grieving process, but he still looks devastated. The fact that he flew all the way to North Carolina was so old school and romantic! I’m with Arie and I don’t understand what happened. I think she chose the safer bet. Jef will never leave her, get an ego or cheat. I don’t know, but I’m still honestly so happy for Jef and Emily. If Arie weren’t on the show, Jef would have been my top pick!

BACHELOR PAD TIME! GET READY FOR THE NASTINESS, TEARS AND MANIPULATION.
