HuffPost included Matt's statement above, along with RS's spoiler that Rachael K. wins. the HuffPost authors further go on to state, "HuffPost has since learned that James and Kirkconnell are no longer together, and that their breakup was ultimately precipitated by recent revelations that she had attended an antebellum-themed fraternity formal in 2018 and liked photos containing Confederate flag imagery in the past." Whether this is based on a legitimate lead, or was conjured up out of thin air, I have no idea.

I was going to say exactly that, she can follow all the POC IG accounts she wants, by that statement no way IMHO would Matt continue the relationship.

Heart wrenching but powerful statement from Matt. What a nightmare for him. Thought before reading the RS spoiler that he clearly either wasn’t with Rachel or hadn’t picked her.

Glad to see Matt's statement, it was well written. I am sure we will hear more from him when the season is over.  Not surprised if he and Rachael K. are not together now.

TPTB really threw Matt—the first black bachelor—under the bus by casting Rachael. They didn’t force him to date her but they are master manipulators and knew exactly what buttons to push. jmo

That was a well-said statement by Matt James. I'm sad for him if he really did pick Rachael. To me, they should have known this and told him while filming. I'm really torn on even watching but will just to see Michelle and Bri's HTDs. I don't know about the finale but I'm definitely watching the ATFR.

Can't say I'm totally surprised if true. I believe it though. I feel bad for Matt having to find out certain things about Rachael after he already picked her. This was one of the reasons I stopped watching a few weeks ago.

Does anyone else hope that the Franchise delays filming new seasons a little longer and does an overhaul of not just the hosting position, but also production and others in the TPTB? Institutional change as Matt said in his statement. The filming in Canada fell through, so maybe that allows them to have a little more time to think about everything that has happened rather than just keep filming shows to have more content. All JMO.

I'm not sure what they can do to salvage the rest of the season. It will be so strange if we're just seeing it play out for him to pick Rachael. It would be impossible to buy into that knowing what we know, imo.

I've always wanted them to film almost live and lightly edit every week. There wouldn't be spoilers and editing for drama would be a lot more difficult. Won't happen but I'd love it.
