Re: The Golden Bachelorette - Joan Vassos - Episodes - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
Despite Joan having such a great cast of men ... This wasn't a very good season IMO. She fell for the guy that she had an early date with .... and who said all the right words to win. Hopefully the next golden Bach will be divorced and we won't have to listen to the non stop talk about their deceased spouse! I'm a widow myself and get what they are feeling .. but if you're in that much conflict about moving on ...don't do the show!! I couldn't help but wish Joan's friend and former contestant that she talked with on the ship would have been a much better lead. Would like to see either Pascal or Mark as next Bach .. love Charles but please ...I couldn't watch a season of him.

Her friend is Nancy and I agree that she would have made a better lead, @northernviewer. I think she got the guy she wanted and maybe she's okay with Chock as he is but I thought he came across as a little too possessive.
I finished the show just now and I missed seeing both guys meeting the family. It's nice that she spared Guy but it also meant that we just saw her do things with Chock. I loved her dress at the FRC but overall I found the episode boring. I guess we should be careful what we wish for because Grant's season looks like it will be very drama and crying filled. Good thing he's a looker.

@albean99 I'd love to know if they filmed a MTF with Guy but cut it. Very odd to have Chock have a MTF and LCD before Guy is already shown. I also thought it was odd that there was only a late day/evening portion of the LCD and not a full on date plus private time. It was all off. I think tons of footage was cut to fit the short show and the lack of excitement with Guy,

@northernviewer I am sorry to hear you have suffered great loss in your life but your perspective is certainly interesting on Joan.
As for the next Golden Bachelor, Mark now has a famous girlfriend from One Tree Hill so he's out (at least for now). And Pascal threw the franchise under the bus in a Glamour article so Ben and Ashley (and I agree) think there's no way TPTB would give him the job.

As much as I wanted Mark to be the next GB I'm happy to hear he is dating someone. I'm thinking it will be Guy.
I agree the episode was a little boring since it was all about Chock/Joan. Would have liked to see Joan go on 1 last date w/ Guy.

My work buddy came to tell me that she ended up not liking Joan very much, and a part of me agreed with her. We were both rolling our eyes at Joan's worries about unlovability after Pascal left. She didn't want him anyway, right? Why do leads get so worked up over a cast member leaving when they didn't want that person anyway?
He son also came off as being rather odd to me. Her daughter and daughter-in-law were both fine.
I've gotten a lot more cynical over the years, so looking at Joan and Chock, I have to wonder how long it will last. If it does end up lasting, then good for them. I did feel for Guy -- it might have been bubble love, but I'm sure it felt all too real to him.
Moorea and Bora Bora were stunningly beautiful.

Just watched Joan and Chock on Playing the Field podcast. They come across well and he seemed less domineering. Gave me more hope. But I hear you Amethyst. Odds aren't good.

@albean99 I agree with you that Joan's love story bored me. But that's OK if she is happy and found her guy.
Overall, I was glad she didn't have Guy meet her family and spared him the embarrassment and further heartache of going further in the process. I couldn't help but feel he left with so much personal growth and he'll meet his special someone. Living in Reno, with proximity to Tahoe, has got to add to his attraction! And I loved his family the most of all the families - I could relate to his sisters as friends and his kids seemed like they were doing well. I could definitely say that all the kids on the HT dates seemed fine.
I wish we had seem the more animated Joan from the finale all season. Which makes me think the pining over her husband might have had lots of producer prompting. I do think she fell fast for Chock on her first single date but I give her lots of props for being kind and present with all the other guys and dates that followed that first one. I suspect that Joan had quite a comfortable life with her husband and she found that same comfort with Chock. It was sweet that he listened to her and presented the key to a NYC apartment on their last chance date.
I wish they finale had been extended an extra 30 minutes to show the engagement party that followed the episode. All the Golden guys and gals that were in the audience attended along with Joan and Chock families. I would have loved to see who was talking to whom!
Guess I'm showing my age with preferring the Golden series over the younger ones. Grant intrigues me a bit as I do believe he is not a player and is sincere about finding his person. I was touched by the moment in the preview when his dad hugged him. And I do like a man who can cry!
