Many from NYC! Look beautiful and some really well educated women. To be honest, I'm not that excited about the season but maybe I will change my mind. My hubby is a Duke engineer and my daughter is also a Dukie so I will be pulling for Zoe.

Sounds like the Bachelor Mansion is again under risk due to fire .. it is down the mountain from Calabasas .. including Agoura Hills .. evacuation warning

@Jeepers They just down graded the warning, but it is still a tense situation. I live miles away and they sent an evacuation order and a minute late resinded it...crazy times. Lots of bad fires thoughout the area. However, we have more air support and they have been more able to tamp down before it gets worse. Just saw on the news that this particular fire "Kenneth" has not progressed for now. Fingers crossed and Prayers to all in So Cal. What a mess.

I have nothing but special prayers for everyone and the wild life in that area .. I grew up in Santa Monica and my dad was a fire fighter in those horrendous mountain fires .. also worked at what is now the Rustic Canyon Recreation Center and the Santa Monica Airport .. I have such special memories there.

The fires are just unbelievably sad.

@Jeepers   My dad was a firefighter also, in Pittsburgh.  I have uncles and cousins who also were/are firefighters.  I have the deepest admiration, love and best wishes for these brave heros.

My son and DIL know 2 people who lost homes - one in PPalisades and the other in Altadena. My cousin evacuated in Pasadena, not far from where fires took out homes in Altadena. She said the winds were so fierce, trees were falling, making driving hazardous, on her street. Am glad to see the National Guard is on patrol and there is a curfew. When we were evacuated in 2019, the National Guard was stationed at our corner and they parked their vehicle in our driveway. We were confident no one was going to get in our gate! It's a small piece of mind when everything is chaotic. My heart bleeds for those in the fire zones. If by luck of God, you still have a house, your neighborhood is gone and life, as you knew it, is a memory. And if you lost your home, there are so many decisions.

I remember in early 2020 when we knew lockdown was going to begin for the pandemic, I went to a couple stores to buy new linens and pillows as I expected our sons to spend a lot of time with us. The local stores had not had a chance to fully restock after the post-fire demand wiped out their inventory.

California estimates that as many as half of construction workers are undocumented. If deportation occurs, rebuilding will get harder and harder and very expensive. The cost per sq ft of rebuilding doubled in the 5 years since the 2017 fires blew through wine country.

So sad and scary for all there and those who have loved ones and friends in dangers way. Stay safe, @pavalygurl and everyone else who's in the area!

@albean99 Thanks bean. So far so good. The winds were bad last night and we were just a few blocks aways from mandatory evacuation area. Went and stayed with my cousin. Came back this afternoon and things so far are a bit better.
