DWTS - Season 33 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

Ilona's improved so much! I now think she's moved up and Stephen has moved down for me. He started out pretty good but seems to be fading now. Whether it's the finals or not, I hope he & Rylee go first. I feel like he's getting a lot of fan votes, though. Danny has improved but I don't feel anything when I watch them dance. I do agree that he got extra points from the lifts when he should have also been graded on his dancing in the 2nd dance.

Joey has grown so much and he doesn't have a dance background. His first dance was amazing and I think he did great in the 2nd one also, other than one small slip up. He's competing pretty well with Chandler who does have a dance background. She's great but I find it hard to root for her. I do worry that she and Joey are fighting for votes against the popularity of Ilona and Stephen. I'm afraid that the winner this season may be a fan favorite who isn't necessarily the best dancer. The judges could help but they seem to be grading on a curve for some, imo.

Congrats Joey on being the first Bachelor on DWTS to make it to the finals!! Whatever happens he should be happy how well he's doing.

Everyone has been good so far and I'm looking forward to the finale esp. since freestyles seem to be the winning act. Rylee and Brandon's first time in the finale as well.

Regardless of who wins, I've so enjoyed this season. Seems to have a lot of fun energy and the cast and celebrities are ones I can get behind (minus 2 - you'll have to guess which ones!).

Finale night...3 hours. Way too long. The first 30 minutes is all recaps of some of the finalists previous dances. Filler. Should have been two hours. More than enough.

Thirty five minutes and we finally start the actual show with the opening number with the pros and the other contestants from the season.

Redemption dances start with Stephen/Rylee and the quick step to the Friends theme song. That was pretty good. Much better than originally. I agree with Derek...there was a wobble in the middle, but still very good. He seemed much more relaxed. 10,9,10

Next Joey, the first ever Bachelor to make it to the final! My favourite of this season and the most deserving since he had zero dance experience. They are doing the cha cha that they did the first week. Another good performance. He is such a natural. 10,10,10

Danny is next and their redemption dance is the tango from the first week. Terrible song for the tango. I wonder if they are trying to make him lose. That was good, but his footwork still seems off to me. I wonder if that is because he seems pigeon toed? He is still stiff in spots. 9,9,9

And yet more filler from the season and last season's winner is going to dancing. Please.

More filler. Why are we seeing last season's winner? I mean I liked her and enjoyed Xochitl dancing, but this is totally unnecessary and has nothing to do with this season.

Ilona and Alan are doing the jive as their redemption dance. That was really good. 9,9,9

More filler with Xochi from last season dancing with Val. Why? Get on with it.

Chandler is up with a redo of the jive. Another excellent dance from her and Brandon. WTH is CA talking about? Chandler had the hardest season of everyone? Please. 10,10,10

Next up Derek and Mark Ballas doing a Argentine Tango the way it was originally supposed to be...with two men. Interesting history...for the dance and between Derek and Mark. That was excellent. Different, but fabulous. They are both so talented.

First up with the freestyle are Stephen/Rylee. Naturally there will be gymnastics. They incorporate the pummel horse and the moves associated. That was excellent. They are so emotional after they finished. 10,10,10 They are both so sweet.

Joey is up next with a tennis themed dance. Jenna is in tears. They have a nice friendship. Glowing tennis rackets and balls. I love Joey, but that was not my favourite. It was really well done and you can't distinguish him from the pros, but I agree with CA...and that really hurts to say! When he didn't have the props, it was excellent, but I also thought the energy was a bit off. 9,10,10

Danny and Witney are doing a Barbie theme. Ok, I am not loving this dance. Too much wasted time at the beginning. Changing jackets. Lifts. He was not in sync. Yeah, this sucked. This was not anywhere near his best and I blame the choreography. Meanwhile, CA says this was excellent, but cut Joey? Sorry. This was really the worst final freestyle I have ever seen. 9,10,10

Ilona and Alan. One of the most enjoyable teams ever. I loved her opening! Now that was fun. She looks so good. Loved it! 10,10,10. I love Joey and hope he wins, but I would be very happy if Ilona took it!

Chandler and Brandon went with a big band/black and white theme and then go to color. I mean it was good...even thought they were off beat at the end. I get they were honouring black dancers and their impact on dance through the years. As well, they are the first black couple to make it to the end, but to me, this felt manipulative. I think she is not getting the fan votes like they thought.

All the five finalists will be doing the next DWTS tour. Excellent. I wish they were near me.

And it comes down to Joey and Ilona...and then commercial.

Winner: Joey and Jenna!!! We couldn't go wrong with either one of those couples. Yay!!!

Yay! Congrats to Joey and Jenna and all the teams!  I can’t watch since we’re in Amsterdam but I managed to vote for Joey. I thought Ilona improved so much over the season and she has a big fan base. Chandler was good from the start with her dance background but I thought it was between her and Joey.
