Ex-Bachelor Canada contestant hit by bus

Former Bachelor Canada contestant Ana Calin was left concussed with a badly bruised leg after being struck by a bus while walking to work Thursday.

The 26-year-old, who made the final five on the show’s premiere season this past fall, moved to Vancouver from Ottawa in November.

She had recently begun working at CIBC and the last thing she remembered was walking along the sidewalk on Granville near Smithe when she was struck from behind.

“My head is really hurting me and I’m dizzy and nauseated. My leg is in bad shape and it’s going to get worse before it gets better,” she told 24 hours.

“I can’t afford to miss work and find it scary that I can’t even feel safe walking on the sidewalk.”

Police are in the process of obtaining video footage from TransLink bus cameras, but witness reports suggest the popular contestant was on her cell phone around 9 a.m. and “stepped off the curb” when she was struck, Vancouver police Const. Brian Montague said.

Despite her injury, Calin is grateful the accident wasn’t more serious. She was discharged from St. Paul’s Hospital Thursday afternoon and is currently recovering in the care of friend and fellow Bachelor contestant Kara Henderson.

“It could’ve been so much worse,” she added. “I’m a little bit traumatized. I’m a pedestrian and I follow the road rules, so I just assumed that other vehicles do as well.”

Ana - love you! You are beautiful, elegant and just a warm lovely person. Hope you are doing well and enjoyed your experience. I live in the US but still managed to watch Bachelor Canada. I'll be sure to check out your website!

You mentioned CeraVe moisturizer. We heard about CeraVe creme (in a jar) from an elderly physician friend. It truly works when nothing else will - even for skin allergy problems. It's a miracle. I'll have to try the moisturizer as well. Thanks.

What I loved about Ana and the majority of the women on Bach Canada was that they were very realistic and didnt' overdramatize. When Ana, Kara and a few others left they didn't break down as if they'd lost a relative - but were more honest about not having that connection with Brad - how refreshing was that....??
