Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
Er... "trying to change peoples' opinions & how embarrassed she is"? As in she's embarrassed about how she's dissed Doug, carried on about how she wants her ex, or...? [/slow head shake] She'd do well in a bowl of cereal at breakfast... flake!

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
Pretty much.
Watching last nigt's #mafsfirstyear made me so sad ... I haven't cried like that in months. To relive such pain and agony is unbearable. I've been getting a lot of "hate" mail. And I get it....I've always been one to honestly show my thoughts, feelings, intentions, actions. Honesty isn't always pretty. But at the end of the day I am not living a lie. My husband knows exactly where I stand. We work on problems together because we don't hide them from each other. I go to sleep at night knowing I am not pretending to be "pretty" just so I can save face. Sometimes real life sucks. But the only way to get through is is to face it head on. And to have someone by your side through thick and thin makes it 100% better. There's no doubt about that. #marriedlife #marriedatfirstsight by @jamienotis

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
That is an excellent demonstration of what's going on between her ears.
I am certainly sympathetic to anyone who's coping with growing up in the environment she seems to have grown up in. And I would expect that to have a serious, negative impact on any relationship. Yes, I think it's reasonable to see some significant conflict, etc. That said...
Given that we have only a brief glimpse of what's happening, and that view is certainly being manipulated by the producers, the above is still rich in male bovine-produced fertilizer.

I was curious after reading your post so I checked her twitter which I haven't come across in awhile. Her second tweet is promoting her jewellery. I guess focusing on jewellery is better than focusing on your marriage.
She is slowly making me loose interest in her. I was very happy for them, now I'm not sure if this is all for real, or for a storyboard.

While I'm getting on her case, I notice Mrs. SoHappyToBeMarried still uses #jamieotis. I thought she was all about being Mrs. Hehner (sp???).
Yeah, I'm just piling on. [/grin]

Interesting. Did she ever change her twitter to Hehner? I never noticed.

In all fairness, changing addresses, etc. is never fun in cyber-land. But continued use of #jamieotis does make one wonder...

Ugh, so glad I haven't been watching this wreck anymore. Jamie is utterly delusional if she thinks any wealthy handsome guy from a great family will put up with her issues. It's not like she's a stunner even, just pretty enough. She should count her blessings for having a patient and kind man like Doug by her side. Not optimistic about them lasting though. Her motivation seems to be fame rather than love.

Nope her Twitter & IG hasn't changed to Hehner. I don't think Cortney has either but she at least shows more love to Jason IMO
I agree this doesn't all seem like it's editing for the show...

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
Uh, this might be a dumb question but did Cortney change her name after the ...um... ceremony in Las Vegas?
[rant]
Am I the only one who thought the idea of a wedding in LV was ...uh... ill-considered? Did anyone else see the irony of the Dumb and Dumber costumes?
I've witnessed one "you are kidding, right?" wedding and, were it not for another obligation, would be about to see number two. The first was at Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR (yes! as seen on food porn TV shows) and the second is a Halloween costume wedding. I'm all for having a wedding with a really good reception (which is not the same as everybody gets ripped and shooting ensues), but I do take marriage as something a little more than a cute little chapel with a barely recognizable, except for the suit and glasses, Elvis. Or being watched over by St. Kenny Rogers on black velvet (Voodoo Doughnuts). Wedding on the beach or in the middle of the woods - nice backdrop for a serious commitment. Sky or scuba diving? Get real. [/rant]
ADDED: IIRC, Cortney wasn't too impressed initially, either. Maybe Jason should have listened? I wonder how Cortney's family (IIRC Southern Baptist) took it?

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
Courtney never changed her name. And I'm sure the ceremony in Vegas was somewhat planned by the producers (or at least suggested to Jason by the producers), and it didn't really matter since they're already married and it's not like they would need to get a license or anything like that -- more of a "just for show"/silly type thing. So it's not like it mattered or counted for anything.
As for Doug/Jamie -- no idea if they're going to survive as a couple or not. I do think Jamie needs heaps of individual therapy (and has for a long time), and not from the experts or on TV.

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - The 2nd Year
Agreed on the last point re: D&J and Jamie in particular.
I don't share your view about the Las Vegas wedding, though. Maybe it's a generation thing, but the point of the wedding isn't "do something fun". In terms of what's said, and why, it's as serious as anything two people can do. Two people are swearing to each other (avoiding religion here) commitment right to the end. If that's done flippantly, what's left?
In the MAFS context, the wedding created a legal obligation, but what lasting commitment can there be between two strangers? Sure, as we saw, people have made efforts to make things work, and certainly C&J are doing a superior job of it, but, call it renewal of vows or whatever, not having a true wedding, where both people know each other (that's the whole point of engagements - it's a commitment, a step closer to marriage, to really know each other) would have been at least a surprise, if not a disappointment.
