The Bachelorette - Season 12 - Potential Lead - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

This episode should be really important for her. She needs to convince us she's the one the beat. Also, I suppose, the women tell all episode next week will be important for her as well. In my opinion she is the best option but she hasn't hooked me into watching her love story yet.

She actually only has to like 3 or 4.  She has to be friendly and polite to 25, but that's it.  And as little time as the Bachelorette spends with each guy, a girl like Caila could sail through most of those dates without batting an eye, being sweet and charming.  I think she'll have them all falling at her feet.  

And she just has to look good and draw out the guys a little bit.  She's a smart girl and I think it's second nature to her.  Wasn't she voted "Biggest Flirt" in her senior class?  You get that when you can attract and maintain the attention of the opposite sex. I think she'll be good if she gets the gig.

I am hoping it is Jubilee that would be a good surprise.

But thousands and thousands of people that watch this show do not Tweet.  Or use Instagram.  Or even Facebook.  The entire viewing audience is NOT all on social media.  What THOSE random social media people say does not represent everybody watching.  So why should we care what they say?  I certainly don't.  

Well I disagree, I think what people say on social media gives a good representation in general of what viewers are thinking. A lot of the negative tweets about Caila I have seen are things I agree with and I have not tweeted about it.

IMO a lot of people won't be able to get over her strange "Not sure if I can love, afraid I'll hurt Ben" arrogance and her "I dumped my boyfriend for The Bachelor" intro. Hopefully producers realize this.

I agree that SM is really important. You only have to look back to Britt vs. Kaitlyn to see how much of an impact it can have, IMO.

Regardless of what social media "says", I truly believe that the top brass pick who they want, not who a collection of numbers from various electronic sources "say" would be good.

The network and the producers actually KNOW the women involved. Personally. They SEE them and TALK to them. They know who they can manage. They know who will follow their instructions. They know who will DO THE JOB they need done. In my opinion.

That knowledge doesn't come from the people sitting on their couches at home pretending they "know" these contestants. They know a fraction of what's shown.

But if people on social media think they have any effect at all on who's ultimately chosen, then bless their little hearts.

Fans were actually a big reason why Juan Pablo was chosen, he wasn't even on their radar. I believe that it does matter. Your opinion can be different.

Exactly. Very little screen time, didn't finish in F4...definitely not someone who was being groomed for the lead, until SM made their opinion heard. Same thing with Kaitlyn. They were definitely pushing for Britt, giving her the most screen time, ample time at WTA, the "heartbroken" edit, etc. They even did the whole two Bachelorettes thing because they were so desperate to have her on. Again, SM spoke and the guys "chose" Kaitlyn.

I'm not saying SM is everything. It's obviously not. But, to act like it doesn't have any impact when history has shown differently? I guess I just don't understand. IMO.

Yeah, I don't think SM means everything, but I also don't think their top pick is the one viewers seem the least drawn to and that would be Caila at the moment. By far. We'll see if they start campaigning for her next week. If they really want her then they should, because calling her fan favourite at the moment would be pretty farfetched.

Fans= Viewers = Ratings = Ad dollars = Revenues - Costs= Profits and Jobs for everyone associated with show

I agree that fan opinions will certainly be an influencing decision. Every day all kinds of market research and focus groups take place with prospects trying products and sharing opinions while brand managers capture the data and try to gleam insights. Products that don't test well are tweaked and modified to try to better appeal to target audience. No company wants to put out a product that won't sell.

I have not been paying attention to Twitter feedback on Caila but I bet someone at ABC sure is. They'd be crazy not to.

So Twitter followers and buzz may not be the deciding factor but certainly taken into consideration, IMHO.

Yep, the execs aren't gonna sit back and say "Yeah, yanno, like. Yanno, yeah, dude like. Awesome like again. Uh oh--unfollow.

TBTB/ABC will call whomever they want as the Lead the "fan favorite."  The have done it repeatedly and will do it again this year.  The choice they make will be determined on what storyboard and what sort of season they want to present.   It will also be based on the wishes financial and societal of ABC.  The minute the new Lead announcement is made and the season begins filming and then ultimately airs the Lead will gain tons of new followers on SM.  Rise and repeat.

IMO Diversity will be a factor this year and Caila will be the next Bachelorette.  Her current SM following will be a non factor.
