Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - #3 - Discussion

I think both Kaitlyn and Shawn have said in a recent PEOPLE magazine interview that they're not in a rush to plan the wedding and they're enjoying their time together just being engaged. Bringing this over from the fan thread, here's the article clipping.

^^^ great article!  They do seem happy and have known each other for just over a year. I Don't blame them for taking this time to enjoy themselves before getting married/have kids (in whichever order they choose).  

I am not a huge fan of Kaitlyn's but she seems happy and I truly wish them the best.

I'm not snarking at anyone but just wondering why  is there a big fuss over whether Ben & Lauren or K&S get married first?

I'm not in a hurry for BoothStowe to get married I'm just glad they are still going strong enjoying being engaged, crazy to believe it's almost a year but I like it

Speaking for myself, as I said upthread, people should plan and get married when they want, and they shouldn't have to explain to anyone.

It isn't a race between two couples IMO. I prefer couples that come off this show, date, for a long time before even thinking of getting married. JMHO

IMO the whole "race to the alter" started to become a big deal with Jade and Tanner who were both from their respective seasons as contestants, met after them but are done and married.

I agree that no one should rush to do something they are not ready for. Heck this stupid show forces couples to get engaged within days of sleeping with other people. How crazy is that ? and if they don't the season is considered a failure.

If she thinks she's setting an example, it's the wrong one IMO. My 10 year old little  nephew can handle bullying 1000% better than she can.

Just last week, he told me there was a bully that kept bothering his friend. They were playing basketball during recess and the bully told his friend he'd never be a good player. My nephew asked him if he'd like to join the team, and maybe he could help the little guy and teach him some moves. The bully felt like he was being looked up to and helped out. That's the difference between a 10 year old and KB.

OT, but this is one of the cutest things I've ever read. Definitely put a smile on my face today .

If getting married is the gold standard--then somehow gold is tarnishing. The divorce rate is 55%.
Everyone's timeline is different.
Sometimes marriage happens and sometimes it does not. Sometimes it takes a while to get there. It's all a learning curve.
I stand by my statement that it's better to be single and happy than coupled and miserable. If people take a longer time to figure things out--ok by me.

Actually, according to the NY Times...

"About 70 percent of marriages that began in the 1990s reached their 15th anniversary, up from roughly 65 percent of those that began in the 1970s and 1980s. And couples who wed in the 2000s are divorcing at even lower rates."

Yes, I have read those articles, also. Huff Post also repeats the above.

It's a lengthy article for those not interested here are the highlighted points:

The article highlights much more, but again no point in going there unless very interested. Ironically, baby boomers had high rates, higher than newer marriage again the article goes into factors explaining why.

Kaitlyn Bristowe, 30, got engaged to Shawn Booth, 28, on the season 11 finale of The Bachelorette — but their ~happily ever after~ is a “sham,” according to one of the men who once vied for affection.

"They have a business relationship,” their costar JJ Lane tells Life & Style.

JJ previously made similar claims to In Touch, adding "Shawn is only sticking with her for the money.”

“I will revel in their divorce!” he said at the time.

The brunette beauty’s pals don’t seem to disagree.

I can see some truths in that article (mostly lack of career and wanting to milk what they can) but they do seem pretty happy together.  Not really buying the business relationship at this point.
