I think the edit is taking people in and that what Ben's mother actually said will either be taken out of context or taken out of order.

I believe your right - that there is more to this piece than what his Mum has said
She has a very anguished look on her face
There likely is a piece about the parents view of Lauren which has not been shown
I doubt that Ben ``s mother wants to be in any way seen to favor openly 1 girl over the other - she seems to know that can only leave a Mark
