I get that we all want to feel good about ourselves and that is often manifested in how we look. Obviously those in the public eye have more scrutiny on their looks and unfortunately, with SM people are nasty. The problem I have with celebrities and those in the public eye doing all this stuff to themselves...and this isn't aimed at Kaitlyn, but in general...is that it sets up unrealistic expectations for everyone else. Between all the work they have done and the filters they use, the regular woman on the street is being set up. Those are now regular expectations...brow work, fillers, botox, plastic surgery, breast implants, butt implants, on and on. I see young women I work with feeling bad about themselves because they compare themselves to those unrealistic influencers/stars/models. They will never look like that because they don't have the time to work out and have personal trainers, nutritionists, never mind all the money it costs to do all this stuff. It is now a cycle of never ending improvements to the point that many of these people look grotesque and totally unnatural and unfortunately it has now filtered down to everyday life where younger and younger woman feel the need to copy these so called "improvements".

I don't understand those who feel it's okay to be mean on social media, especially in regards to appearance. Valerie Bertinelli is going through that about her weight. no no

Having said that, I do wish that younger women wouldn't feel they have to do things like Botox, fillers, etc. I have to wonder what they'll have to do later on when they're in their late 40's and beyond?

I think the issue for Kaitlyn is that the season is at the halfway mark and Twitter trolls are still bashing her physical appearance. Jason mentioned Twitter specifically. He also mentioned that when CH was host, how CH looked wasn’t an ongoing topic.

I never understand people being deliberately nasty on SM. I may vent here, but I would never go on somebody's personal SM and be rude or cruel. It is a waste of my time and I don't enjoy hurting people. I often wonder how unhappy these people are and what do they look like that they have the nerve to be so horrid to others.

As for CH, I don't think he ever really focused on his looks. I think that is part of the obsession with these trolls. If you show your weakness...in this case Kaitlyn has shown how the criticism about her looks hurt by verbally expressing it and then by also changing her looks to in a way appease them. Yes, she may say it is because it makes her feel better, but IMO it is in response to the SM pressure...It all becomes a never ending cycle. They criticize, she reacts, they criticize what she just did. Lather, rinse, repeat. Since CH didn't seem to be worried about such things...at least not that we knew...it isn't really something trolls focus on.

This is why I'm with @GuardianAngel...never let them see you sweat. Ignore, ignore, ignore. When you don't react, they have nothing to feed off of. Also see my tagline!

@Sprite The only positive I see is that troll behavior becomes a topic of discussion, in this case, in media, and that discussion is negative toward trolls. It may result in some less invested trolls backing off or in Kaitlyn fans applying peer pressure on trolls wherever they post.
I, like you, would be more likely to ignore strangers attacking me. I would block them but of course I have no vested interest in my follower count.

I would never criticize Kaitlyn on her own social media.

Having said that, the skin on her face looks mask-like. For any other woman, I might say that her plastic surgeon was a little too zealous on a face lift and pulled the skin too tight. Or that she's had too many injections. Or in Kaitlyn's case, maybe her skincare routine or makeup needs adjusting. But her skin seems to lack the pliability and elasticity I would expect in a woman of her age.

If I had to give advice to any younger woman, it would be to know that the sun isn't your friend. Wear sunscreen on exposed skin every day, especially your face, neck, and chest. Wear a high SPF if you are on or near the water or snow. Sit in the shade whenever possible. Wear hats in the sun, especially those with broad brims. This alone can give you wonderful, youthful skin for many, many years. OTOH, I've seen women in their mid-20s with crow's feet because they've been out in the sun too much.

All that plus...exercise, eat healthy, drink lots of water and stay hydrated, moderation for alcohol, get plenty of sleep, always wash your face and take off makeup before going to sleep and moisturise around your eyes, forehead, mouth and particularly the neck!!! I like Nivea, but whatever works for you. All of which cost peanuts compared to what many of these women spend. I am turning 60 next week and people usually think I'm in my mid 40's. I look better than some of my coworkers who are in their 30's and it really is about life style choices rather than what you use.

Oh my gosh, that's awful. Luckily he's ok. It could have been much worse. My aunt got hit by a car a few years back. I didn't recognize her when I went to visit she was black and blue from head to toe. Luckily she too didn't break any bones but she was banged up.

That must have been so scary. I'm glad he and the pups are ok.
