I'm really surprised! I wonder if they'll pull the plug after their next Bachelor.

Thanks for the thread CC!

America's Got Talent use to air on Tuesday nights so I think that may be taking some of the ratings down for this season. Some just tune in for exotic locals, so hopefully things will pick up this week.

It was also adjusted up in the final #s to be 5.79 million

Despite the numbers it was #1 during the 9pm ET hour and #1 for all three weeks across the women demographics. As long as it stays strong with women it's not going anywhere.

I agree. I also think episode 5 will bring in the ratings. This is when she tells Kalon off. Drama = ratings.

I guess due to time contraints, MF had to air it on Memorial holiday. He didn't do that to Ashley on the 4th of July. But I think Memorial day is almost a big a holiday as it kicks off summer for many folks to go to lakes and beaches, cook outs, etc. I think it was so low due to the holiday. How did the other shows do at that time slot on other stations? TIA

AGT won, but they noted that the Bachelorette was a strong second. I don't watch AGT, but know it's a very popular summer show. So it will definitely have an effect on this years ratings I would think. In the past it has always been on Tuesdays and I think Wednesdays.

America's Got Talent, with new judge Howard Stern, has put downward pressure on The Bachelorette's ratings. But the key demographics that advertisers love are still looking good for the show.

For the Bachelorette, the numbers i got for Ashley's season is a little different:

Episode 2: 7.2 million (Memorial Day) 5/30/2011
Episode 3: 8.0 million 6/6 (First hour: 7.7 million; Second hour: 8.3 million)

Other numbers are similar (just 0.1 or 0.2 less or more)

I think the Nielsen rating is what they normally look at, and it was unusually low for this show last episode, even more unusual when it is Emily 's show, i think. Only 1.9 (record low for this franchise).

Last year they said Ashley brought the ratings down, but her premiere and her finale were both 2.8. Her premiere was the most watched for the Bachelorette show since Meredith's season. The average Nielsen for Ashley season was 2.5.

Emily's opening episode was 2.5, and last episode was only 1.9.

I don't watch the Olympics but does anyone has any idea how the Summer Olympic is gonna change Emily's season?

I watched Gossip with Natalie Getz and she had Jackie and Constantine on her show yesterday. Nat and Jackie seemed surprised that Emily' season is not doing so well as most people expected it to, especially when ABC has drummed up interest in Emily's season every early since the middle of Ben's season. Natalie said she was surprised because Emily is probably the best Bachelorette. But Constantine disagreed. He said yes She 's considered the best bachelorette because she is beautiful, normal, smart and nice. But on the other hand, certain types of men do not consider a single mom America's most eligible Bachelorette. His words are "they don't go to a bar and look for the most eligible single mother'.
So there you go, no truer words have been said from a more honest contestant [sarcasm] (Remember how honest he was with Ashley during her season).
