Forest fires are devastating. I used to live in B.C. and remember lots of fires when I was there. One time it was so bad that they were stopping vacationers driving through and making the men fight fires.

I grew up in the Okanagan Valley, southern interior of BC and been through a "firestorm" in Penticton. It came down through the hill and stormed from south to north a huge distance in less than an hour. It scared the crap out of me. I can only imagine how they are all coping. Found out my inlaws left Fort Mac and are stuck north of the town. They are waiting to get through now and really hope that they can safely.

CNN is covering this today. They predict two weeks until rain comes that will help. Prayers for in this path.

My heart goes out to those having to flee from the devastating
fire's in Canada. I read 88,000 actual evacuations 25,000.

I live in So Ca too and have had to be evacuated 3 times over the years. It is a scary thing. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people effected. My son in law is a fireman so my prayers are with the firemen too.

your door and tell you to leave Now.
I too have firemen in my family, one retired,one still active.

^ me too, Nonina. Many firefighters in my family. Pray they and all the residents (and animals) stay safe. This reminds me of the Oakland Hills fire in California many years ago. Such devastation and so, so sad.

Apparently the forest ministry employees are the ones to decide about evacs and how to inform. Apparently it was a combo of police, forestry people, radio, tv and blowhorns a plenty that were the notifiyers this time.

There are over 90,000 evaced now due to the communities around Fort Mac.

Just heard that they got flown out to Calgary.
