I'm going to play Devil's Advocate for a second with regards to this potential political run. Yes, I have my reservations for a myriad of reasons, namely how this affects Lauren and Ben/Lauren's relationship, and selfishly how this may limit what they share and what we see. (Also, on a totally personal level, I vote opposite from how Ben is running, so I'm going to have to reconcile that in my little fangirl heart. )

But- Ben never struck me as someone who wanted to be known for The Bachelor franchise. It was always just a stepping stone to "enhance his life." Which it did- he met his fabulous fiancé (who I believe will be his wife), and now he has a major platform. It appears he wants to use that platform to move on to bigger and better things, to do things, that at the very young age of 27 he probably couldn't or wouldn't have the opportunity without. Sometimes when opportunity presents itself, you have to strike while the iron is hot and take advantage. He has wonderful poise and ease, amazing speaking ability, is incredibly articulate. He has a kind heart. I honestly always kind of saw him in a role like this - from way back in Kaitlyn's season. And honestly, what would we prefer? That he struggle and waffle to find his career nitch like so many other Bachelor alums? That he make a living solely off being a Bachelor alum/couple, shilling products and doing pointless appearances, again like many other alums? This trajectory is very impressive. It's meaningful. It's important. It separates himself from the franchise in a big way.

So long as Lauren is 100% on board and supportive, and they both agree together this is the right move for them, I think I can be supportive. From every indication we've had, Ben considers them a team. He makes decisions based on what is best for them, not just him. So I have to imagine he's very much taking her and them into account with this decision too. And, it's not like he's running for Governor. It's a fairly low level position. They can still share stuff, it will just have to be well thought out. Which is fine. Heck, Michelle and Barack Obama still share stuff about their family via social media, so Ben, a lowly State assembly member probably can too.

This is all assuming he decides to run. The article just says he's considering. And of course, assuming he wins. Which he might not.
