@albean99 I'm looking forward to them as well. We are so fortunate to have such great coverage.

Where are you cruising to?

It's out of Port Canaveral and we stop at Falmouth, Labadee, and Cozumel. We're going on one of the really big ships, Oasis of the Seas, and that's the real draw. That and the weather.  summer

Olympics - Discussion - Page 2 Empty Re: Olympics - Discussion

Post by Norcalgal Fri Feb 02, 2018 2:37 pm

My enthusiasm for the Olympics has been tempered with all the testimony from the gymnasts against Larry Nassar. I feel a tiny bit complicit as I so enjoyed watching their performances, having no idea the emotional and physical duress they endured. And I keep thinking, is ice skating similar?

The lengths athletes will go, often with their country's direct or indirect support, to win a competition seems to diminish the intent of the games. If all the effort put into beating drug testing was redirected toward helping more people become physically active and participating in sport, wouldn't the world be better?

@Norcalgal I know what you mean. Not only that but all the doping controversy with different countries. I try not to listen to that too much. There are so many amazing stories out there but all I can do is keep those affected in my prayers for continued strength and healing.

I'm an Olympic fanatic and look forward to watching all the backstories and the determination from all the athletes. Our coverage is phenomenal. They'll have taped a large amount of filming prior to, of the athletes from all over our country.

While the Larry Nassar case has definitely put a huge black cloud over the USAG and USOC, I am very excited for the Olympics and Paralympics. I know a few of the athletes as they have lived and trained at the OTC so I’m really rooting for them.

I am very disheartens by the IOC’s response to the Russian doping. But Thomas Bach doesn’t have a backbone so I really shouldn’t be.

I look forward to watching the Olympics. I am so physically uncoordinated. It's all so beautiful, artistic and overall astounding to me.
The whole doping issue with any athletics is so very sad along with the entire opioid situation that society is facing.
Good friends/neighbors just lost their 34 yr old son last fall in response to past steroid usage for body building and its effect on his heart. Very sad.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, bye Felicia!

I had clients who lost their son at an early age because of steroid use. It's tragic.

When I heard the reversal of the doping situation, it really annoyed me. Totally not fair. But like I say, I try to keep the negative out of it. There are so many great stories to be told like the first Jamaican women bobsled team and so many more.

We need an Olympic smile!
