@AllAboutLove do you remember who was featured more on Art's season? Was it Dani or Matilda?

I don't recall TBH in regards to TV3 since they changed their name I don't know if they highlighted anyone as much for past seasons. Typically it was just the Bach NZ SM that highlighted the contestants and I would say they did a lot for both Dani and Matilda but more about Matilda towards the end.

Back then though they even had hashtags on the season for #TeamMatilda and #TeamDani and would have it on the episodes (so it would show up on the episode screen) and people would tweet and they would tweet and post with the hashtag so it made it much more focused on Matilda based on that since so many people on SM saw Matilda as F1.

Honestly it's hard for me to compare since that first season was something else and I've never seen the likes of it before, not just because it was the first season but it was just magical a perfect lead and cast IMO and it just all came together and I doubt I'd ever see the likes of it again. There was so much investment by the audience, including the PM at the time even stating who he would choose (Matilda) and so many other well known Kiwi's stating they would choose Matilda and just so much media focus.

In contrast, while Zac's season has been a great season to help the audience move on from the disaster of season 2 it still feels different to me from S1 and not just the lead and cast but how the show posts SM and even the edit. One reason could be if they were still filming while they aired the show which if they did it would explain a lot to me if Lily ends up F1 as well as the SM since it's more focused on her. Or if Viarni indeed is F1 then it could be SM was misleading and much more than for S1 and done maybe to not make it too obvious considering Viarni got WR/FIR and was obvious from the beginning.

Either way, Zac seems happy post show so that bodes well overall and just that alone shows me this season is a success compared to the 2nd (especially with no flipping coins for F1)

Agree with your entire post AAL. Especially the section I bolded. Art and Matilda are The Gold Standard. along with Georgia and Lee. (IMO)

no idea. I think a lot of rumors are running around and dani must be included in some of them maybe

I have to admit that I am a bit confused. dani seems to approve every single tweet with {#}teamdani{/#} on it. matilda and dani are very closed during and after show. I may be wrong but it looks like matilda is supporting dani a lot, the same way they both cared for each other during the show. Matilda was a total sweetheart for dani at the rose F4 ceremony. I felt that matilda was protecting dani and still is today.

Today I saw that dani has another Facebook private account and art and alysha are her friends there. Art facebook is set to private but all his family is following him and his big sister is very active (actually in the us for over a month now, visiting). On the big sister account, some guy said that the choice of the girls on the show were not the same class as his sister. He use a word but must be a NZ slang. Big sister seemed to let it go. it was a pretty mean comment and obviously came from a close friend, not a stranger.

It is clear that dani was the pawn all along. Nobody will make me believe that he had doubts at the F4 ceremony and needed dani to tell him that she was falling for him. Like alysha said on the voice, he could have had a serious talk at the hometown, not making a drama at the rose ceremony as if it was so difficult to chose between poppy and dani. Poppy was always a friend.

matilda is a mystery but i would not be surprised that she was pushed so she became the next bachelorette. Fans fell for her but not the couple they can make together. SHe is the perfect girl, perfect friend, perfect housewife but what they fail to compare is if arthur fits her lifestyle and vice et versa. And I truly think she does not. And this does not remove any of her qualities she has.

soooo it is very interesting that Crystal, known as being very honest and quite open about what happened during the show even plainly said that she left without feelings... said that she is {#}TeamDani{/#} and she believes that Dani is F1

of course anti-Dani will find a million of excuses to say that it is smoke... but at the end of the day, crystal was F4, saw many interactions between the girls and arthur and she decided to take team for Dani, not even tried to mention any other girl. And I am pretty sure she was not paid by the producers to play coy. Considering that she knows how she was portrayed, would she take the chance to look like a fool on top of it?

Did she see the same ~~love~~ crush story as me and hundred of NZ girls too? (Dani has the same # of fan base as matilda BTW).

Who would be very okay and still remain friend with the girls even tho her BF pashed a couple of girls? Dani.

Does it mean they are together today? I do not know. Does it mean that the producers tried to hide the real girl with the edits on the last 1:1? maybe

so maybe this 2:1 was really a way for arthur to find out who he would like the best?

So my heart is dizzy between Alysha and Dani... yep.

Bachelorette Chrystal talks honesty with us!

Whatever you thought about The Bachelor NZ‘s Chrystal Chenery, there’s no doubt that if you watched just one episode of the show, she had your attention. From the first episode Chrystal emerged as the show’s alpha female, and whether she was your protagonist or antagonist, she was most definitely the show’s leading lady – possibly even stealing more screen time than Art, the Bachelor himself.

At nzgirl there was not a conversation about the previous night’s show that didn’t include Chrystal. Love or loathe her, she was hugely entertaining and enjoyable (and sometimes jaw-droppingly shocking!) to watch. For that we at nzgirl definitely fall on the love side of the {#}TeamChrystal{/#} camp. But what we loved most about this stunning blonde 30-year-old, super bendy yoga teacher and massage therapist is that she emerged as one of the most quirky, endearing, and straight up characters ever to be seen on New Zealand television – an absolute must on reality TV!

We spoke to Chrystal over the phone this morning and by the end of the call, this funny, charming woman had us smitten. Perhaps a dose of honesty mixed with a lot of laughs is the best formula for life!

We loved that you owned the “Bitcherlorette” title in social media, but we saw a much more dynamic, quirky and adorable Chrystal emerge in the last few shows, who is the real Chrystal?

I think I was being myself all the way through. Unfortunately out of the full scenario you were just seeing tidbits of what the producers wanted to show. As there were fewer girls, the quirky parts of my personality showed more. The bribes to the producers must have paid off. Can I say that?

The girls (who have left the show) talked abut you being straight up, honest and lighthearted, and said that they really appreciated your humour, is this typically your whole approach to life??

Yeah for sure. I think people need to be a lot more honest with each other. Like, I have a close friend and she wants to say something to her sister that could enhance her (sister’s) life. And it’s something she needs to hear, and if you’re not going to hear it from your nearest and dearest who’s going to have the balls to say it? I felt like I was sisters with the girls in the house so I let my opinions fly. I think everyone could benefit by being more honest with each other.

Your personality dominated the show, so are you surprised it didn’t capture Art’s heart?

I am not surprised. My feelings towards Art were slowly diminishing during the show. It’s very unusual dating a man who is multiple dating a lot of girls, just as it would be in the real world. It was impossible for me to feel anything at the end. Any feelings I did have for Art were slowly disappearing and any women in reality would feel the same way.

You said in your last show that Art didn’t really get you. Do you think if you’d had more one on one time without the cameras you’d have been a great match for one another?

Yeah totally. It would definitely be a different situation. It would definitely be a different outcome. He said he didn’t really get me, and at the end of the day, we’re women, you’re never gonna get us. I tend to not to compare myself to other women, or look who’s a match for whom. It’s either there or isn’t, and I am not the safe choice. And if you’re on national television then I am definitely not a safe choice! I am even surprised at what pops out of my mouth when I have wine in my hand and a camera in my face!

What compelled a beautiful, talented self assured girl like you to go on The Bachelor NZ? Surely you can just click your fingers and men come running?

My sister made me go on The Bachelor. She’s wanted me to settle down and keep me in New Zealand. She wants me to marry a kiwi boy, and this was her way of making that happen. I’ve been travelling on and off for 10 or 15 years – to Brazil, Canada, Italy for six months, and spent most of last year in Europe travelling, and Aussie, of course I lived in Aussie like every Kiwi – and I have only been living in NZ sporadically. And it’s a lot to ask guys to move back with me to New Zealand because of logistics. All of the above is a mixture of why my sister put me on that bloody show!!

You talked a bit about The Bachelor NZ being a “competition”. Do you really believe that it was, and if so, does it bother you that you didn’t win?

I’m not really. I am a lot of things but I’m not too competitive. I don’t take anything too seriously. At the end of the day if you’re vying for one man’s heart you going to get a bit mouthy about some of the girls. Some of them would get uppity about the others and their behaviour. But we’re not a sorority, it’s not High School Musical, we’re here to date one guy, so yeah. That’s it really.

Who did you bond with most on the show and why?

Throughout my experience I kind of felt like I was friends with all of the girls but I didn’t bond with just one of girls. I have a lot of love and respect for all of the girls. For me, all my life I have never needed someone in my pocket. I had great conversations with all the girls in the house and bonded with them as individuals, but we were like sisters and equally we pissed each other off at certain stages. It’s not unlike that in general in real life.

Do you have any regrets?

I have one massive regret that pisses me off so much! That bloody blue eye liner! I don’t know what I was thinking. That blue eye liner and a pink dress. What was I thinking? If I had one regret I would go back and wipe that poop off! And the stumbling in bad lighting. Where is someone telling us “You look ridiculous!” That’s when we needed some honestly, we needed someone to come up with a facial wipe and wipe that poop off!

Art is about to meet the girls’ families. From what you’ve heard the girls say about their families, do you expect any drama?

I definitely think it’s going to be everyone being really nice. All the girls are really nice so it’s just going to be really, really nice. There might be some opinions asking Art what kind of guy goes and does a TV show dating 21 women to find a girlfriend. Parents are from a different generation like that. But generally, it’s all just going to be everyone being really, really nice.

Who is next out of the show and why?

Definitely I’d go on who’s going to put their heart on the line, and who’s going to open up and that’s what will keep any of the girls in the game from now on. I was being authentic, and I said that I’m not going to put it on and wear my heart on my sleeve. So whoever is going to open up and be really honest will stay.

Who do you want to win Art’s heart and why?

I am {#}TeamDani{/#} and I want her to win because she is very honest and open. Next to me in the house Dani tells it like it is. If she wants to kiss Art she kisses him. You’ve got to ask, are you there to make friends or are you there to get Art. You couldn’t do both. Then equally, some girls did a good job of keeping details to themselves and being respectful of the other girls in the house. So I am not trying to put a spanner in the works by saying that. Each to their own. But I really like Dani because she’s being upfront and honest.

Who do you think will to win Art’s heart and why?
I’m still going for Dani!

I do think that they had more serious conversations but I also think that that is just Dani wanting people to know she is not just "the house hussy" (her own words) and has a more serious side too.

Ultimately though, IMO, it doesn't matter to me what Dani says about her connection with Art what matters is what Art has said about him and Dani and on this recent episode, Ep 12, he said "Dani and I just kiss.... that's what we do". That's not just editing that's what Art has shown... it is a very physical connection/edit as I saw from the beginning. There is zero progression where they have meaningful discussions. Editing floor? Sure, but they get such little time with him that Dani CHOOSES to kiss him more than she does talk with him and say hey, let's hold offf on the physical I want to know more about you. Instead she herself says she just wants to kiss him when she is around him.

So her post-show words don't match what a really deep connection means, even if she thinks she had one, editing or not, by her own focus on the kissing it shows what her focus was... "Can't we all just kiss him and be happy?" rather than "Want to find out if we really do have a deeper connection and can fall in love". Does that mean they didn't have serious conversations, etc? No they probably did but Art saying that "that's what we do" is very surface-focused... no deep connection there along with his "Stop blowing up my phone" subtweet seals the deal for me on what Art feels the connection they had.

It may have been a strong connection (it always is with F4) but no matter the edit, by both their words, it was not a very deep one. And imo, there is a difference between a strong connection and a deep connection (soul/emotional/etc),.

The Spinoff podcast I listened to even said that Dani doesn't have that deep connection with Art or he doesn't with her that he only wants to kiss her because it is the normal thing they do. The normal thing they do... so the most common link between them. That's not a deep connection linking them that is a physical connection linking them which can be strong. Spinoff also said that Dani reminds them of Holly in the Playboy mansion and is willing to share the guy and kiss and doesn't have jealous issues regarding the girls kissing Art. I agree. She is so much fun and as long as she gets her kiss she is not concerned with who else kisses him. And there is nothing wrong with that to me. It just shows me she is not at that place where the guy only has to be with her like Alysha emphasizes... "my man" and Dani is like "our man" and can't we just share and be happy? Haha. She's too funny.
