Sounds like Ben is trying to convince himself he made the right decision.  

Can't believe he felt that way right before the final rose. Oh Ben. Why do you say the things you do? And so it begins.

^^^ It's okay not to believe Life and Style- not the most reliable source. I can believe f2 was shattered- it's the job of her producer/handler to make her absolutely believe she is f1- and they appear to have done a very good job of it. And the more they made her confident, the more interested Ben was in her. It's all part of making the TV show. There are two money shots in the finale. (or maybe 3 if the lead gets close to a Mesnick). The first is the shattered f2 and the 2nd is the setting sun shining on the Neil Lane diamond.

I didn't take Ben's quote to be about his final decision, necessarily. More like he has to be confident in his decisions throughout the season. Realistically, all these leads have like 4 dates to decide who they want to continue with post show. I'm sure most are conflicted, no more than Ben. He just complicated things by throwing out ILY, only difference.

Still weeding my way threw the SC Only thread to see if there are more to add to the group.  

I went back and made a small screen cap from the episode. I brightened the cap a little bit as well.

This is Sophie's cap from above. It looks like JoJo is wiping a tear in this pictute if you look closely. I think this is him letting her go!

When you lighten it, you definitely see a shiny sequined reflection imo
