Per the first post in this thread, Luke attended Faulkner University and High Point University (playing baseball at both of them), Hannah graduated magna cum laude from University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE).

For Luke and his family, finding a woman who has the same values was important, and after even more online research, Hannah found out that Brown and Luke actually went to the same church — albeit different campuses — when they were in college in Alabama.

@GuardianAngel Thank you so much for finding these above articles. I remembered reading these but lost track of the articles. These statements stood out to me at the time:
"Luke will be taking a study guide on the book of Hebrews with him. While he’s on the show, he’ll be reading through the book while his friends back at Christ Place do the same.
“He wants to share his faith and he wants to share his faith on national TV,” Robertson said. “He believes God has given him this opportunity to go out there, and he doesn’t know what‘s going to happen to him there, but he’s praying for opportunities.”
For Luke and his family, finding a woman who has the same values was important, and after even more online research, Hannah (his sister-in-law) found out that Brown and Luke actually went to the same church — albeit different campuses — when they were in college in Alabama"

IMO his religious strength and physical appearance Hannah was immediately drawn to. The majority of the other men did not like to hear of his faith or view Hannah's clear attraction. The show used all this- keeping things stirred up- prompting most of the drama and then editing it to get ratings. Reality Steve said that on the "Men tell all" Luke says production sent him back with a ring- so the impression given him must have been that he still had a chance. ( We will see this Monday) Playing with peoples lives like this IMO is cruel. I do not remember this so much in the beginning of the show with Trista and Ryan. Was it always this way or am I just noticing it more ?

It was not always this way but, Trista and Ryan was over fifteen years ago. Social media was a fledgling concept and reality tv was not old hat and networks garnered most viewers with the only real competition being paid premium cable channels. All of that has changed. People are not satisfied with the original concept, IMO. So, every season the envelope is pushed more and more. The players are manipulated more. SM is more involved because the show and the contestants rely on it so heavily for everything from promotion and advertising to individual livelihoods. The families are more involved. There are hundreds of products and influencers and a ton of money to be made and at stake. We have a contestant with a million I/G followers before the season even ends. This season is practically pornographic, IMO. Music, movies, tv, news, weather, LIFE is on steroids. Simple dating shows are a thing of the past. This franchise goes too far with its manipulation but, this is an audience that’s primed for it and eats it up. When tptb fires the current producer we’ll see what comes next. We are overdue for a revamp. All IMO.

Agree with everything you said.

Trista's season was a whole different world of reality tv. First thing was it only lasted 6 weeks. IMO, MF actually didn't expect anything to come of it.

I have a cousin that is a firefighter in the same area where Ryan was. He knew Ryan. I guess at that time those fire departments sent men to other departments at times. After filming Braden (my cousin) was located at the same place as Ryan. The show hadn't aired although they knew he was on it. They all suspected he was the final man because whenever he was on the phone and one of them walked into the room, he either stopped the conversation until they left or hung up. Braden said there were a lot of little things that happened like that. He didn't mention if Ryan took time off for SHV but with his job, that wouldn't have been a problem. With 3 days off in a row, he could have gotten away with no one noticing. I seem to remember though that SHV's were few and far between back in the early seasons though.

It was interesting talking to Braden about it in 2009 (at his grandfather's funeral who was my dad's brother). He said they knew Ryan was a goner. He also said that he is as good a guy as he appears to be. I think Trista really hit the jackpot. They are one of my favorite couples from the franchise. Ashley and JP run a close 2nd!

It was much easier to keep things hidden in those days as well because the franchise was in its infancy.

I think that much of what we see now in how the show works was actually the (IMO warped) guidance of Lisa Levenson (at least according to May Kauffman's book Bachelor Nation) - a producer from 2002 to 2007 (Source). I've heard it suggested that Levenson was the inspiration for the character Qinn in UnReal. IMO the problem now is that TPTB have to find more creative (and perhaps more cruel) ways to make "this season the most dramatic ever". IMO there was always a lot of manipulation and "producing" but the more dramatic the story line is, the more obvious the manipulation becomes.

IIRC CH said (about this season) that "we have villains but this season the villain is someone Hannah actually cares about". This was Luke's storyline and IMO he was perfectly cast to play that role.

I did feel bad for Luke when Hannah sent him home. He was shaking in the car. He just kept falling in to the traps set for him. I will feel bad for him at MTA. I know it is going to be so hard to watch. Hopefully he has gotten much needed counseling after this experience.
Fortunately for him, he surrounds himself with like minded people.

Clearly, he was wrong. But, man it's just hard to see someone have to take that kind of hate.

Well we saw how well that went down! I found Sean Lowe to be a better example as a Christian as it wasn't so in your face. I remember several guys from Emily's season remarking how his quiet knowledge of scripture and his example caused them to begin discernment on what their faith meant to them. An influencer makes us want to be like them. Don't think Hannah's guys wanted to be more like Luke!

That same IG post Luke shares that he gave Hannah a bracelet the first night of Provetbs 31 because Hannah talked about in Colton’s season. Luke received the first impression rose right after he gave her the bracelet. So there is so much that just didn’t get shared. The edit is not their friend.
