Acts of Kindness - Discussion
It always warms my heart to see an act of kindness, which I can't get enough of. This is brilliant and such a wonderful idea. Feel free to post any acts of kindness either on SM or your own experiences.

Re: Acts of Kindness - Discussion
There was a woman in the deli line in a wheelchair who could not reach the "numbers" for service. I gave her mine and took another. No biggie. After a few minutes another woman who had also been waiting along with the crowd of us came over and told me in a very emotional way how wonderful she thought it was that I gave up my "number". Wow. Such a small gesture from me, but it taught me that kindness can beget kindness. It made my day.

@pavalygurl that is so sweet especially for someone else to acknowledge what you did. That's another act of kindness in itself!

@pavalygurl BRAVO!!!! As someone who is short, I am always so appreciative of random peeps who get things of the top shelf at the grocery store. Maybe you've helped me at one point!

Thanks guys! I was so blown away that this lady was leaving the store and came back over to tell me this...she was almost tearful. I thought about how such little things can make a difference and am trying to do them.

Re: Acts of Kindness - Discussion
@pavalygurl Me too. I am paying more attention. One of my fav things is to hold open a door for a guy. Most times they say "no you go ahead" and I'm adamant, No, please go ahead.
Someone paid for my coffee and muffin recently, and I didn't know until he left and I was going to pay. I was so stunned. So of course, I paid anyway and asked to pay it forward. It really doesn't take much but the effect it has on other people is so rewarding.
@Norcalgal oh my gosh, me too! I'm always looking around for help, see no one, grab something long that I can pull it forward with it, it's a scene out of comedy show!

Re: Acts of Kindness - Discussion
I got tickets for Come From Away for my husband’s birthday. It’s where the town of Gander, Newfoundland took in thousands of people from all over when they were stranded on 9/11. The book is free to read if you have Amazon Prime. My husband read it yesterday and loved it. I’m listening to the soundtrack. Talk about acts of kindness!

@albean99 I love any information regarding Gander and 9/11. It's so touching, you need a box of Kleenex beside you!
Canada is known to be a nice polite nation, but Newfie's are the most caring wonderful people in all of Canada IMHO and I love their accent.
Great article, thanks for posting!

Re: Acts of Kindness - Discussion
@albean99 I saw this with my cousin when it came to LA. We both sobbed through much of it. But yes, what goodness these folks showed US, their neighbors. It is just such a lovely show, let us know what you think.
A side note. I worked for one of the companies headquartered in the North Tower. Two of my work friends were killed that day and other LA people as well. A group of us from work had previously bought tix to the Hollywood Bowl for that Thurs (2 days later). One of the guys had to drive back from Denver in the last rental car available. People set to appear that night were in NY (unable to fly) so LA performers pitched in. We all decided to go and just be together and support each other. It was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had. There was so much unity and kindness and just love in that audience that day, it was amazing. Would that we could experience that today in this troubled world.
