Great article. I was unaware Michelle has been so vocal on this issue.

@GuardianAngel I'm glad she stood up for herself and every person of color that has been on the show. Everyone deserves better. But this article also made me understand Matt James season even more - he must have felt so played. Named a black bachelor in light of the Black Lives Matter activity that summer but didn't support him. IMO Those producers are so afraid of what they don't know.

Speaking as a career teacher, I think perhaps people expected a bit too much of Michelle in that regard, and she may have expected too much from herself, both in terms of returning to her job, starting a charitable foundation, etc. The facts are, at least 40% of teachers don't make it past the first five years. If they come in through an alternate certification program, something like 80% don't make it. It's a difficult, demanding job.

A friend of mine was an urban teacher, and was good at it. She put in two years, but it drained her. I told her, you did two good years, and you should be proud of that. It's okay to move on. She took a much easier job teaching suburban kids.

So I feel the same about Michelle. She put in some good service, but IMO she doesn't need to justify herself as being service-oriented 24/7/365. It's okay for her to move on if she wishes, to pour into herself, to enjoy being young, and to build her assets and future as others do.
