Yeah I am willing to bet if the male was the lead in the summer they still would have better ratings which is sad because most of the viewers are women... It's a man's world and we are just living in it...

Andi Dorfman’s Bachelorette season started off on a high note (yay, she’s not Juan Pablo!) but last night ratings for The Bachelorette dipped to a series low. That’s right, not a season low, but an all-time lowest-low. As host Chris Harrison might put it, “It brought in the most dramatically low ratings in the history of The Bachelorette.” The numbers for the reality love show came in at just 1.4 or about 5.6 million viewers, which was down 30% from the season premiere.

She is the worst bachelorette ever. If Feisty means over the top bratty and whiny but no balls to decently accept feedback from people (Eric Hill) then maybe she is.

She is a horrible human being and Im so sorry if you idolize someone like her.

Yes I saw the ratings of Andi's season and it was the lowest of all.  Facts are facts.....

Below are some of the facts.  If you look at the overall ratings in the 18-49 demographic you are correct that they are lower than Des'.  However, if you look at the overall number of viewers, Andi's had a little more:

Lucas, thanks for taking the time to compile the table.  In my post I provided the mean for the viewership numbers for both seasons (6.76 per episode for Andi's season and 6.75 for Des') but it's interesting to see each episode contrasted side-by-side and to realize the difference in the aggregate numbers.

I'm a little surprised Des figures aren't a little higher from FSD-FRC considering the spoiler and drama of Brooks leaving.

Maybe its true that its a man's world, but I hope this premise is not based on the ratings of a craptastic semi trashy show pretending to be about love like The Bachelor/Bachelorette.

There are more men and women who watch The Bachelor because its just more entertaining. (I dont agree but apparently we cannot argue with ratings).

Bachelor in Paradise ranks up there as one of the trashiest show around but its so entertaining because of the crazy women. The men are just props. Its the same with the Bach/ette. Men are just the props its women that makes the show. Unfortunately in Bachlorette, if you dont like the female lead, its already ruined for you.

I disagree with you considering the lead. As you stated people like the cattiness of women as drama and guys generally add very little drama. Plus I do think the time the Bachelor is on makes a big difference also. I remember when Ashley was the lead and early on many people were trashing and didn't like her.

Of course we all have our own opinions here where we are watching a show and also in real life.

Yes we did, thus Im going to say that without Nick in Andi's season there's nothing to talk about and nothing really to watch. Sometimes I think he was a plant. He is the only one that showed real personality there. (and now the topic is back to Nick)

There have been many warnings in this topic to keep the discussion around Nick, we have been more than fair. It always goes off topic and becomes an Andi vs Nick topic. Then I'm blasted with PM's about she said this and she said that. I'm not answering anyone's PM's but am discussing it here.

Everyone is entitled to opinions on the contestants. Unfortunately some opinions are harsh and may not be the way you would speak to others and therefore find it offensive.

I have been refraining from closing this topic, as I don't think it's fair to those who want to discuss Nick in general. However, those posters don't bother coming here because they don't want to read about Andi vs Nick.

Everyone has moved on in their lives. This topic is created for Nick and what he is doing post show.

It's worth noting in passing that the lowest rated episode of Season 10 was episode 3 which aired on Sunday June 1 rather than the normal Monday night time slot; as I recall there was a big awards show Monday but IMHO the change in normal schedule depressed viewership for that episode. Had Episode 3 gotten its normal viewership the aggregate total would probably have been over 7,000,000.

And that is precisely why I reposted the article delving into why The Bachelor is more entertaining than The Bachelorette; the reasons why are fascinating and probably not well recognized.

But there's so much more gems in that article than simply talk about ratings. Some of the points it made is:

men competing for love is boring ... Shouting and screaming and it’s very loud and unpleasant, but there’s also a sense of predictability ... males do really cooperate very well against other groups, the intra-Community fighting is left hanging, and usually reconciled. Once they figure out the hierarchy, they generally abide by it. [Males] know where they stand and they respect that.

Upthread someone recently asked why the guys in the house called Nick a "strategizer" (and a few other choice words as well) and the reason is that Nick didn't compete in a way that guys understand. Nick vocalized that (eg when he said "I'm not going to root for you and I don't expect you to root for me"); he never fit into the normal expectation that guys know where they stand because he never stood there.

The Clorox bleachable moment showed the guys talking about Nick until he walked in the room when they suddenly went silent. The article described a situation from JPG's season where Nikki and Clare "were both screaming at each other one moment and involved in a marathon silent treatment the next" which is exactly what the guys did to Nick in that bleachable moment.

When I earlier posted that this season turned norms inside out and upside down this is one (of several) examples of this - we had guys competing against each other not the way guys normally do (which would end up with collaboration) - they competed more like women compete and all of the guys were out of their comfort zone doing so.

The lowest rated ever episode 3 was also the one in which Nick had his 1 on 1 date.  Any correlation?    Personally, I suspect it was largely due to the Sunday night airing, because the ratings went right back up for the following Monday. But I suppose we can each blame it on whatever suits our own agenda.

Is the purpose of this thread to discuss only what Nick is doing post show?  If so, I didn't realize that.  I assumed that was already being done on his fan thread, so now I'm a little confused.

A discussion thread is just that--for discussion which could take various tones, but this is not a MeAndI thread or a MeAndI vs Nick and who is a worse human being thread which is often the tone it takes.
