I agree with all of you. When I read about it, I kept thinking: poor Nikki, no wonder she choose JPG and how was she able to be his longtime girlfriend? How many years are we talking about? I'm just happy that he will be gone after one episode, I don't know how long I'd have been able to stomach that....

According to RS, based on having seen premiere, Ryan got a head start on the drinking and was already smashed when he got out of the limo.  RS always talks about drunk guy being a recurring night one theme, but he kind of went on and on about how drunk Ryan was, so it must be a new low for the show.

^^ Yes, I think it takes a lot to shock RS. He always keeps on saying: same old, same old.

To the bolded, I think most be DO do the show drunk. Sure, there is a range of drunkenness - some buzzed, some tanked - but most of them have been drinking a lot, and especially during cocktail parties.

That doesn't excuse his behavior though. It's not cute. And it was a total non sequitur, which makes me wonder why that was even on his mind.

I took it as a thoroughly absurd comment and absurd situation -- I think he was trying to come up with the most outrageous response to the question he got but we'll have to see how it actually goes down...and that in itself was completely absurd given the show is being filmed... imho it showed he was *trying* to be outrageous and while tptb played a role in that he was doing it very intentionally...JMHO

whether they used it on the show or not is very sad but even more sad is that there are countless reality tv shows on VH1 and bravo and mtv etc. where a lot of the drunken and having sex and being outrageous on tv behavior has gotten normalized -- it's very sad but unfortunately not unique to this show nor an uncommon occurrence... people seem to want to go to great lengths to get attention and intentionally do outrageous things

ETA: was saying this to also say I agree with your point allykat that people do this show drunk and that's a huge part of the experience...I remember Jillian(?) and some of the other leads giggling and acting very silly during the show obviously inebriated. jillian esp got prettyyy tipsy during some of her group dates

He had no intention of falling in love IMO. He probably got cold feet over the whole thing, and just started drinking in the limo where there just so happen to be a a well stocked bar.

It's unfortunate they 'think' that type of behaviour is entertainment. JMHO I have zero tolerance for people in that state.

RS said "More on Ryan later". Does that mean he comes back? What could that mean?

It means RS has more dirt to dish, but it will come at another time.

I think he said that at the beginning of his column, before he explained how Ryan behaved, that's how I took it.

Wet Willie McDilly is the nickname I am hearing in my head... glad he's gone early. Sounds like it should have happened earlier in the evening which is a shame for the other guys who were being sincere and had little time with the ladies.

Yes- as my husband pointed out, the drunk girl last season almost fell off the stage during the rose ceremony.  Nobody escorted her out.  
It wasn't the fact that he was so drunk- it was his behaviour.  
He should have been escorted as soon as he slapped Kaitlyn's butt IMO.  People drink and do the show all the time, but alcohol doesn't change your personality that intensely.  This guy is probably an azzhat sober, too.

And as I was watching, I finally understood why she put up with JPG for so long, he really is Prince Charming in comparison.
