I am so jealous of you going to see Paige. I am considering going to Columbia tho. It is on the way to visit my children who are in college in Charleston, SC. That is the night "Her Man" will be with her.

does Minnasota have a large population of scandivan .? i have never knew of the word before and im 80 .guess its true you learn something new every day .:study:

Minnesota is actually quite a melting pot. There are large populations of Scandanavian descendants throughout the state, especially in the west and north east (Up North). Also large German populations in the west and South west. The North also has large populations of Eastern Europeans from Croatia, Slavakia etc.

When the immigrants settled, in the laye 1800's and early 1900's, they did so in geographical pockets where they shared common trades, skills, language and cultures. English was a second generation, second language skill acquired through education in Minnesota schools and not necessarily spoken at home.

Of course those lines are blurred today, as subsequent generations have gone on to higher education, professional and career pursuits and economic opportunities in cities across the state and region. However, most native Minnesotans still feel the pull of those cultural roots and can celebrate them in all manner of ways. Particularly, in various festivals and celebrations which annually occur in communities across the state. Visitors can enjoy the foods, dance, music, crafts of German Fest in New Ulm, Ethnic days in Chisholm and many others.

If you live in the area or are planning a visit ( ahem, to see Paige and her man, ahem) add the beautiful Minnesota History Center in St. Paul to your itinerary for a glimpse into the Ellis Island-esque story of immigration to the upper midwest.

Soooo weird. I just posted a message and now it's gone.

Off to Rollie's now...leaving early to get a good seat. It's going to be packed cuz I think there are going to be quite a few Jeremiah fans there tonight. Last time I think I was the only one! Ha ha.

Paige is arriving at 5:30 p.m. and I'm hoping to get some time with her right away before she gets too bombarded.

I'll be back later to post pics and any juicy little tidbits I can share! I may not stay there to watch SHA. Once the show starts, it's so loud you can hardly hear anything.
