Nick was a runner in track I guess he doesn't count as a "Jock" either.

And Chris played college football while Brian continues to be in the "jock" field.

Are her supposed trust issues because of "jock" or because of the person?  It is another take on stereotyping.  This one is countering that the trust isn't because he's a jock.

It might be the way he comes across which reminded her of her ex even though they don't look alike whereas Marcus is much more in the back ground and quiet.
