@sdmom He is still in Taiwan, but will be starting in Japan in January. I believe in Tokyo. Your recommendations were the places that mostly came up when doing web searches. I am particularly interested in Kyoto.
How long were you there?

We went to Seoul, Osaka Kyoto and Tokyo with the kids in 2019, stayed almost three weeks.
My most recent trip to Japan was to Shikoku, the smallest of the four main islands with a tour group about 10 days then to the cities of Hiroshima and Okayama on our own for 6 days.

Amazing photos, @sdmom!
We're planning a short 4 day trip to Charleston next month where we'll also do a day each at the Biltmore House and Savannah. I've wanted to go to all 3 forever so decided that it's worth doing them all. Any suggestions? I'm doing my research now and have booked hotels.

Gorgeous pictures!!!!
I'm going to Northern CA in September to visit family and my cousin's wedding. Nothing fancy and fun like you all but that's my kind of vacation for now

@Linds911 sounds like fun!!
I just booked Ft Myers Beach Florida for October. The place I vacationed at for over 30 yrs. I thought I'd never get back there. I was booked for April/20 but had to cancel because of COVID. Then hurricane Ian decimated FMB in 2022. I've been following with updates and if there was anything available to rent it was 3-4 times the price.
One morning I noticed the condo complex that I rented from had finally reopened. It's taken this long to reopen. I lucked out with one of my contacts who didn't increase his prices like everyone else.
I know the beach will look completely different and some of my favourite places to eat were washed away but I'm thrilled I'm going back and can contribute a little to their ongoing recovery efforts.

Re: Vacations - Vacation Planning - Discussion
I just noticed that I didn't come back and talk about our trip to Charleston. It was great! I'll try to post something on it and photos later on.
Right now we're getting ready for a big trip. We're heading out to Amsterdam on Monday and spending a few days there before our Viking Christmas Market cruise on Friday. We're ending in Basel, Switzerland. I'm so excited about it because I've wanted to see the Christmas Markets for a long time. I hope we're prepared for the cold because we're wussy since we've lived in the south so long. I did buy boots and I have one of those packable down coats. We're also bringing layers.

@albean99 Enjoy. I have heard the Christmas markets are beautiful.
