I still can't get excited about this guy and I've tried.  I can't get excited about a former ball player needing help finding love. I really thought we were going to get Mike. There's a reason the US uses someone from the previous season. It works and it gets ratings. **IMO**

I'm glad they didn't get a former contestant and I much prefer that. 21 Seasons of the US bachelor, with 2-3 successful ones at this point, IMO isn't really working?

Bach Canada ratings I think do great, otherwise there wouldn't be another season.

I like the fact that they have new people. When they are using an existing person you have the fans that love them and the ones that hate them, before you see one episode. This way they start off even. Now of course maybe some fans don't like the way they look or don't trust that they are really looking for love, it seems to happen whether they have done the show before or not, so that doesn't bother me. IMO

I'm happy it's someone new too.  TBH throughout Jasmine's season I thought Mike was being "set up" for next Bach and almost rolled my eyes when he went home at 3 because I thought it was "so obvious".  

The fact that he now isn't Bach makes me like/respect him more.  Perhaps they wanted him for it but he turned it down?  Either way, happy for Mike to be out of the bubble and someone new to be brought in.

While I think there are a million reasons someone chooses to do this show, I'd like to see "becoming the next lead" crossed off the list. Now it could very easily change, but so far Bach Cda has not encouraged applications by recycling contestants to leads.
