I'm going unspoiled for this upcoming Bach season as well. I saw the first promo during the CMA's last night. Surprisingly, I'm actually a little excited about it.

I'm glad to see the list is growing.

As we did last season, if anyone wants or needs anything but doesn't want to go roaming around to find it for fear of being spoiled, just ask here.

So corny (and rather creepy)..... . Seems like they are totally going to (over) milk the "farmer" factor. *sigh*

It's funny but we all see things so differently. I liked it and thought it was the best promo that I've seen from them. It was a play on Field of Dreams and referencing his farming background...subtly making fun of himself. I thought it was a bit scary...and anyone going on this show should be scared!...but also fun and clever. Definitely not as cheesy as they usually make them. Now we just have to wait for the season...and that is scaring me!!!

The thing for me is the dichotomy of the situation.
On one hand they are touting the "all american, and the heartland" and all that goes with that imagery.
On the other hand many of the girls seem like they would fall out of the pages of Maxim or Playboy. In other words, not exactly as wholesome as the above imagery.
So what it boils down to to me---is a parody. Kind of like watching SNL only on Mondays.  No wonder they had the girls riding tractors in bikinis in LA. It probably would have been more appropriate if they had been topless, however. At least some would have been more in their element.
Maybe they will do apple pie eating contest in thongs.

I'm not exactly excited about Chris' season, but I think we are going to have a darn good time sleuthing and snarking here. Now THAT's that I'm excited about!

Oh, it was definitely cleverer than usual, but just over-the-top IMO. Like I said above, I doubt there will be a single promo/trailer where they aren't milking the farming, all-american, the Conservative-Midwest-Guy factor. It just rubs me the wrong way. I'd sure hope he is not only defined by farming.... We didn't get to see anything else of him on the Bette, but I am sure there is more to him than what they are reducing him to...

Going over the top and showing people one dimensional ... well, that is pretty standard for this franchise. I still remember Jake the fake as Top Gun and if I remember correctly, his theme song was On the Wings of Love. They had him riding the motorcycle to the beach a la Tom Cruise ... who funnily he reminds me of ... but, all I kept thinking of was the Martian from the Bugs Bunny cartoons.

I will be curious to see the next promo as I think that will give more of a flavour of how they will edit this season...and I will admit, I am nervous for poor Chris!
