Nick Viall - Bachelorette 11 - *Spoilers - Sleuthing* - Discussion #7

K I'm gonna bite because this convo seems to go on and on with mainly shirtless pics to keep it rolling in many directions oh nick viLAL (per Ashley S)

anywhoo... has anyone brought the idea that nick likes to travel and get into exciting new adventures in his life? I was completely struck by how HARD the first andi season was for him but how exhilarated he was and how much he loved it. He couldn't stop raving about how great of an experience it was when he was the ONE person who had every right to complain. I don't recall one thing he said that was a complaint about andi, Josh, tb, anyone who was bashing him/hated him etc. based on his philosophies (clearer to me more than ever cos of that dating blog post he wrote about how growth is really the thing that can allow for a relationship to thrive ...sorry I don't recall specifics) the one thing I'll say that I for sure understand about this guy (not that I understand much) is that I think he thrives off being challenged, putting himself out of his comfort zone and going in guns blazing even when the odds are absolutely stacked against him. If there ever was one person who embodies -- go big or go home, go guns blazing to follow your heart even if you fall flat on your face in front of a whole nation of people etc it would be this guy.

Is he vain, is he egotistic, is he annoying, is he sexy, is he nice/rude etc. etc. I haven't met this guy in person so it's hard to really tell. Ashley I said she met him at the NYC date cos he was sitting next to her and she got his sexy vibe and finally started to understand why women considered him attractive. so there are many things about nick that I really am 100% sure I have no idea about.

There are a few things I do know -- he self-reflects, he seeks and thrives in challenges, he believes in taking big risks in life and he values love -- a definition of love that's his own and one he won't compromise on: a great love per one of his very first moments on our tv screens.

So based on all of that what I will say is...We don't know what is motivating Nick to expand his public profile specifically as a model and on a blog. He isn't pursing yet his own reality tv show or planning to come back to another tb franchise show. Modeling has perks like he gets to travel for shoots...dancing with the stars is a way to learn dancing.

At the same time I will not overlook the fact that nick's profile last season had him listing "rock star" as his desired profession tho he can't sing -- so he might be into the attention and stardom...

in any case, one thing I do know before and also now is that this guy isn't one that will follow the beaten path cos it's safe. So it'll be an adventure and maybe unpredictable to watch him go through life. Maybe he is more like Brooks than we realized in the beginning but with the opposite relationship with the women where they weren't as into him rather than vice versa... time will tell. I'm cool with all the pursuits that brooks has taken up even leaving his stable job in utah so I'll be a casual observer of these ppl cos it's fascinating to watch ppl wade through life and make decisions. I respect people who chosse to carve their own paths so we'll see where it will take nick. If he ends up in Hollywood well so be it...  I don't see why it's such a big deal.

I've gone kinda full circle after following Ali and her going full circle... these people will stay the people they are whatever pursuits they target and their true motivations and intentions will be revealed as time passes.

I don't think Nick is a Chris B or Jake type where he'll follow fame whatever hole it will take him into... i don't think he makes decisions about how to treat people or how to act based on how that will get him more fame or attention. I don't see him as someone who will make decisions about who to date and how based on the fame factor. But what do I know -- I'm coming from an assumption that he is invested in knowing who he is and is guided by that. This assumption comes from having watched him through 2 season of bette.

I have said this before but I have huge respect for Jillian in how she juggles fame and life. She stays 100% true to herself even to the point of admitting that the ed debacle and the hateration made her get a nose job. She's my perfect example for someone who is who they are and is living their life and is using public attention in ways that adds to her life and trying not to let it affect her in negative ways even learning from her mistakes. I do think Nick will stay authentic to who he is whatever direction the public platform takes him even if that means quitting his job. That's my guess. Sean C admits he kinda doesn't have a full-time job and that's a lifestyle choice he made where his public platform supplements his life. Brooks moved from Utah to try his luck and that's fair right? I'd be excited for Jared to do the same if he was serious about his acting which he'd done in the past.

Anyway my ramblings are over...the whole point is people nurture a public life/platform for their own reasons, they are affected by it and handled it in their own way, each individual is clearly changed by it as by anything else in life but that doesn't mean they've necessarily let the fame-seeking change them into horrible people or made them compromise their authenticity or their priorities in the big picture.

Smirk, pose, flex, check, check, check. It's just douchey and very try-hard for a man his age, IMO. Gives me the impression that he's insecure and craves attention. Not a good look.

Regardless of who does it, stopping during a run to take a shirtless selfie= douche. IMHO.

By this definition, as long as it is organic or natural then Nick will receive praise instead of criticism? I find that highly unlikely.

Nick was labeled a try-hard and douchey long before his shirtless pics. So I am not buying that this is the reason for him getting the criticism.

It really just seems like Nick will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

So Nick might as well just continue being douchey and a try-hard by posting shirtless pics since he was seen this way before he posted these pics and at least now, the only difference is that he has more fans on his IG.

I think it all depends on whether you follow him closely or not. If all you see are shirtless pics, and you don't listen to any podcasts or read all his tweets, or know anything about his charity involvement and many different events that he attended while he was in L.A. and not once tweeted about any of them, and the endless confident responses he has given to some very difficult and negative comments, one might have a different opinion. Insecurity and craving attention IMO are nowhere near Nick's personality.

He has a lot of fans. IMO he's not doing anything different than any other contestant that tweets/IG's. As far as his forhead wrinkles, he's had those for a very long time. It's not something he's suddenly doing on purpose, I don't even understand that, but rather a natural facial expression. Again, if one followed him closely like his fans do, the wrinkeld forehead wouldn't be a big mystery IMHO.

Where is the photo of Nick shirtless please? I would love to see it. Thanks.

Nothing wrong with a shirtless picture while running (or modelling for that matter). Absolutely nothing to do with having a "gigantic ego", otherwise half the men's population in the world (yes, you read correctly) running or doing a sport activity in the summertime, who happen to be shirtless and take a picture of  themselves while doing it, also have a gigantic ego! hmmm highly unlikely, I'd say.  Nick is not deserving of all the harsh criticism IMO.  I have lived in countries all over South America & Europe...also in many cities around North America, THIS is perfectly ok and does not warrant labelling a man of having a "gigantic ego" IMO.
If that were the case, then we'd have to be "mocking" the egos of half the men we are discussing on these threads, including our sweet new Bach (having dinner at the table shirtless, and GOD forbid running shirtless also) Just throwing some facts here, and also my opinion.  Too many times reading the same things... Damned if he does, Damned if he doesn't I guess.  I am glad to know that Nick ignores these unfounded crude (to say the least) comments

Right there with you Trish! Last season Nick for the most part after the initial interviews disappeared from radar with a couple tweets/pics here and there on twitter and instagram........he was still called names, mocked and accused of being an a-hole then, just like now with him being called names and mocked as famewhore, egotistical, etc. He's going to get bashed either way apparently so I say "Go get em Nick, model, run with your shirt off, post shirtless pics, do interviews all you want to your hearts desire!" I mean, his fans love it and it detractors won't like him regardless of what he does so IMO he has nothing to lose by exploring whatever activities/adventures he chooses.

Yeah, Nick should do what Nick wants. If it's posting shirtless pics, then more power to him! They seem to get the most likes on his IG and he's gained more than 20k followers lately, so I guess there are people who appreciate his half-nakedness. Why should he care about what non-fans think? I'd rather he pleases his fans instead of non-fans. I guess I fall more into the former category, yet I didn't even see his latest pic before it was talked about in this thread, since I don't follow any Bachelor peeps on SM.

Anyhow, like stated before, Ben's posted at least 5 shirtless IG's as well, even though he has 1/5 the number of posts Nick does. Yet I guess they're no biggie, since they're "organic" and he's running/hiking/fixing roofs/eating dinner while at it. And he's not ripped so it looks more tame I guess. I'm starting to find this discussion comical to be honest. Nick's not posting porn!

Let me tell you, it's 90o right now near Chicago, it's hot and it's humid!!  My hair is frizzed up, I'm sweating like a pig, I'm cranky as h*ll, and  if I could go topless, I would.  I say ~ you go Nick!!
