For me he just wasn't sincere and new exactly what he wanted after the camera stopped rolling. He said he was too heartbroken to think about being the next bachelor and in the same breath he said maybe in a few months he'll feel differently. That IMO is what sleuthers pick up on. It's his delivery of trying to say the right things, present, and covering himself for future. Also IMO when a potential lead is trying to stay in the spotlight on SM, for me it's a turn off.

But the 29-year-old tells Be that he's not exactly in the right state of mind for that kind of commitment. At least not yet anyway...

“It’s such a huge amount of responsibility,” he tells Be. “And I think people like the show so much that it does make me nervous if it was all on my shoulders.

“But I think that it does feel like I’ve finished a marathon and right now I’m pretty exhausted about the whole thing…

“So, the thought of doing it all again is pretty daunting and my initial reaction to that is definitely, no way.

“But maybe in a few months time I might feel a bit differently.”

So if he did potentially decide to go on the show, Matty J says he'd like the women of Australia to know that he’s looking for someone whose values and attitudes match his.

and from the same link - 'kinda of enjoy' ? just a poor choice of words IMO. It's as if she couldn't enjoy the moment with Lee because of his breakup, which IMO is totally incorrect.

I just don't like the way he's been handling the possibility of him being the next lead. Be more humble, when the time comes I will discuss it with my family, or I'm humbled people are talking about it, but if I'm approached ..blah blah

Just to add: I know it can be speculated that Matty didn't say these things or do these things and he has to say those things or it's a script or whatever... however, by that same reasoning then the things he does say and do on the show or anywhere else that are seen as positive, then the same could be said that those things are scripted or he had to say. So I don't give him a pass for his behavior and words he has said post-show which I find disingenuous at best.

I agree with AAL, GA, Seabear amongst others who have talked about how Matty is only in it to further his name and no other reasons, him talking out both sides of his mouth at the same time and other things. Those amongst the point that I really don't get a good feeling from Matty and IMO, he really shouldn't be the next bach. He really isn't in it for the long haul but more so to further his career. I say that as IMO his stance since the airing of the show began is all about how he can get further ahead and not because he's actually wanting to find someone. Then after the airing of the show and his media rounds(I highly doubt that tenplay has it in for other cast members and only trying to make Matty say that stuff)I really feel that the guy has no regard for others.

During the airing of the season, Matty wasn't that bad in my eyes, till the end of the season when it got down to HTD's time. Then some of the media stuff began filtering out and I began to not really like who I was seeing anymore.

Think me as a fan would far prefer a season with someone else as the lead....

When I first joined this forum, I was told that unless you see the contestant themselves speak words with their own mouths, to take it with a grain of salt.

Therefore a few excerpts from a couple of interviews spliced together to fit someone's idea is not convincing enough for me that he is some sort of genius manipulator.

Time will tell.

What career exactly? From my knowledge he is still working in marketing. I have not read or seen any interview where he has expressed any desire to continue working in acting or presenting or anything. To my knowledge he did some modelling for Politix but even that was kept on the low down.

To me, his "Career" is just being in the limelight at all costs. I just got a very strong "ick" feeling with Matty. The more I hear about the guy, things that he's said, re-inforces that a whole lot more. To me, he's exploiting/manipulating people/situations more than I feel he should/needs to.....Guess for me, the fact that a new "lead" does sell themselves, but also shows enough humility to lay low and let it happen, makes a bigger impact and it becomes a lead that I can get behind. Matty really doesn't fit that bill at all.....he's selling it hard core and repeatedly turning me off.

The old saying goes in this case IMO, where there's smoke, there's fire. With how he was filmed via pics, etc with other women, how he "used" the babies tofurther his chances of being the Bach....alll of that add's to the "ick" factor that he's exuding.

If and that's a HUGE if he's the next lead....I REALLY hope that there are women that can carry the show as for me....he just CAN'T. All IMO

So if his career is being in the limelight at all costs, wouldn't it make more sense to attend more functions (Melbourne cup, Bachie fundraiser) where he would get snapped like the other contestants or to post more frequently? For example, he could have shared his modelling pics from Politix but he hasn't (he only mentioned that he was dressed by them at Polo).

He simply posted a photo of him with his nephew and family. The statement that he used them to further his chances of being The Bachelor is based on a meme and nothing concrete. He has shared photos with his nephew prior to being on The Bachelor so IMO, that statement is nothing but personal opinion.

You simply don't like him. That's absolutely fine. You're allowed to hate him. But using a meme as proof that he is seeking fame is a stretch.

I wish Matty would be more high profile so that we could maybe see more of him post show. But unless I live under the rock, I believe I have NOT seen much of him lately.

And when he laid low, people say he is immature to not attending the charity event. When he did some interviews, then people say he loves the limelight. I'm actually confused now, which is which...

I must be living under the same rock as you @peggy0221 because I haven't seen much of Matty either. He's posted a total of 13 fairly ordinary photos on IG since the Bachelorette wrapped, compared to people like Rhys (60 pics) or Courtney (49 pics) or even Georgia herself who's posted 33, and IMO almost all of theirs entail some kind of marketing/self promotion agenda.

IMO, Matty is keeping pretty much the lowest profile of anyone associated with the last show, and this, combined with his popularity in the wider community, makes me almost certain he will be next Bach. I haven't heard any rumours at all about possible alternative leads - I think TPTB are pinning all their hopes on Matty to rescue the ratings of the flagging Bach AU franchise.

Todd, Dale, Rhys, Sam and Matteo didn't attend the charity event either, so I guess those same people (any human being who thinks not attending lacked maturity) would call them immature also. I would say the non-attendees were committed elsewhere IMO.
