We have family and friends in the GTA, @GuardianAngel. The timing really stinks for you all so hope it improves. My sister-in-law in Vancouver, BC is enjoying the beautiful snow there right now.

Oh my goodness! It's a mess where I am, but this is awful! Stay safe everyone in the storm's path. It hasn't stopped since 8am this morning. 10 hours of blizzard like conditions.

My friend lives near there but she and her family are staying inside and going to the close markets/Walmarts if needed and staying far away from there. I can't even imagine. Praying for all those people.

We had a 100 car pile just on the edge of London. Several highways in different directions were totally closed because of crashes. I would have loved to stay home, but I had to go to work. It was a bit of an adventure getting there.

@Sprite I saw that. Awful. Glad you are safe.

24 1/2 hours and it hasn't let up. I now can't see out of any of my windows. Snow plows can't get out, 1. it's still snowing and blowing 2. they can't see the front of their plow.

But, not that far away, go figure.

@GuardianAngel Crazy right? I didn't drive to my parents today for the holidays as they were still warning not to travel because of the blowing snow and high winds. It looks as if tomorrow will be ok so I will go then, but I was talking with my parents and mom said they don't even have any snow and didn't have to shovel anything. Meanwhile, I've been at it 4x.

@Sprite I can't believe the difference between 20 km's north of me, no wind, very little snow, and 20 km's south of me, who are in a state of state of emergency. I'm smack in the middle getting most of the winds and lake effect snow. There was a slight break in the winds, around 2pm, and within minutes, plows were everywhere. But a couple of hours later it started again, whiteout's and cars stuck. If people would just stay home, I feel for EMS Police and Fire who can't get around and have to deal with stranded people.

My son in Toronto sent pictures, not a snowflake in sight!

@GuardianAngel Yeah, it's nuts. I tried dragging Winston out for a walk during a lull and within minutes the winds picked up again and I could barely see. He being the pampered diva that he is, dug in his heels and turned right back around. Same deal last night when I got home from work. The wind was really bad and even though I was about as bundled up as one can get, it was so cold and he refused to go more than a few feet. Unfortunately, he isn't like Ozzie was...he would just jump down the steps, do his business and hop right back inside. Winston needs to walk a bit, but when it is so cold, snowing and very windy, he does not want to do anything. We've been vegging on the couch all afternoon watching Christmas movies...well, I've been watching everyone else has been sleeping!

What a mess. It's heartbreaking to see pictures of so many stranded, without power since xmas eve and the death's in the Buffalo area. The hydro companies are doing a fantastic job once the snow ploughs were able to clear the roads where they had to go after the blizzard stopped.

People helping people, on snowmobiles, stores getting food to the hospitals and so many working three days straight to help whether it be corner stores hospitals and especially fireman anyone with ploughs and the wonderful medical personnel who don't stop for anything.
