Chase indicates that he is looking for "that feeling." JoJo spends a lot of time in epi 1 reflecting on feeling "the instant connection." Later, during their epi 3 1:1, they both comment on feeling that connection with each other after the yabyum. Throughout the season to date, Chase also is shown pantomiming the "stab to the heart" when Jordan is given the FIR, frustrated when he's not on a date, excited in the limo on his way to meet JoJo at the yoga studio, and annoyed with not getting more time with her after the football game. We see him hugging her and being close to her in brief snippets in episode 4 as reminders that he's there. He's into her genuinely.

In the midst of the Chad chaos of episode 2, Chase swoops her away to a private 1:1 while Jordan, Luke, and Robby are mired in the muck. He makes her feel special. Also, see aviej's post about his comment before the fire date. After watching this episode, it seemed like Chase was being set up as Jo's port in the storm, her safe space.

In episode 3, their story built on the initial idea posed in episode 1 about connection. They are literally physically and emotionally exploring the idea of being connected, all limbs and line of sight and breathing. At the end, both of them say that they feel connected to each other. JoJo comments that she feels safe and protected in his arms, and she reiterates that to him later that night. He affirms her with his words--Jo's love language is words of affirmation--that he also thinks that's incredibly important. He also doesn't want her to forget the way that she felt that day. She reflects on the fact that Chase makes her feel safe, that they can talk about important issues already, that he went along with the silliness of the date and made her feel comfortable. When I look at the things that Jo wants--someone who is sweet, sensitive, passionate, loving, deep; someone who makes her smile, feel special, feel safe--I think that a case is being built that Chase is one of those guys.

Maybe Jo's comment to him that she couldn't forget that feeling on their date was like Ben's "I won't blindside you," a portent of the ending that she does forget him. We'll see--not enough material yet to decide how this thing ends.

I know there are some things counting against Chase as F1 (2:1 date/JoJo's blogs), but...I, too, am having a hard time shaking his edit.
Trying to stay open to all possibilities. Should be interesting to see what happens these next few episodes.

Those are great points, aviej, that I hadn't thought about.
He seems to have a razor sharp focus on JoJo when she is around. As soon as she came in with Chad, he whisked her away immediately while the other men were too busy staring Chad down (episode 2 CP).
He gave her a squeeze when she looked shy and uncomfortable at the yoga studio.
He reached out for a hug at the pool party.
To probably reconnect with JoJo, he squeezed in this move at the pool party but probably wanted to skip the YabYum in front of the guys:

Ok, so here I am, unspoiled poster but couldn't resist coming over to the Sleuthing Camp

Everyone is here and I can't stand being alone in the NO SPOILERS thread. I looked at the screen caps but didn't over analyze them and I will probably not visit here much when it gets close to the end but for now while so much is unknown this thread is very fun and I love reading everyone's take on the show so far. After catching up with all the posts I don't know where to begin so I will wait until next show to share some of my ideas.

He mentions on his ABC bio that he has a lion tattoo. IDK if that's the one, but I'm guessing it is.

I'm Team Chase at present as well. I don't think that the slight awkwardness on Jojo's part during the yoga date means anything. I remember when I was practicing martial arts that whenever I wrapped myself around a guy's body, it was always just a bit awkward even if I thought the guy was hot. *Especially* if I thought the guy was hot!

I really thought that Jojo's body language during their "snow" conversation was quite telling. I haven't seen her react like that to any other guy. She was all girly and just sort of melting into him.

Me too Peggy, me too..... I just don't think JoJo agrees. Allso because anyone I love for the lead, isn't who they choose..... So there's that. But you're all right, let's just enjoy the now..... How about when he says, "I've got you."
